Sony Ericsson Satio is Idou's final name, ships in October

It's been announced today that the Symbian-powered Idou unveiled at Mobile World Congress earlier this year will be coming to market as the "Satio." The full 640 x 350 3.5-inch touchscreen device features a whopping 12.1 megapixel camera, dual-band HSPA, microSD expansion (yes, microSD, not Memory Stick Micro), and a xenon flash. It'll be available in three colors -- black, silver, and bordeaux -- this October.

I kind of wish they kept the Idou named since it had caught on, but Satio I suppose isn't too bad, especially since it's Latin for "I satisfy," if I'm not mistaken.

I'm gladly surprised that SE's moving away from Memory STick since it's stupidly expensive media, but the screen seems needlessly non-standard. Why not just make it 640x360?

Typo bunny makes lots of typos... it is 640x360 (nHD) and is running S60 5th edition with a lot of SonyEricsson customisations

I liked the Idou name better. It could be pronounced as "I do".

i had assumed it was pronounced as it would be in Japanese -- "ee do oh".

Since it's running S60, does that mean it would run all the same S60 apps a comparable Nokia would run? i've never owned a non-Nokia S60 device before and i'm kinda tempted to pick this up over the N97.

Sounds like a cheap car. And I'm still not biting. Give me proper wide VGA, none of this nHD crap, line-in recording and a dual-hinge with a proper keypad like you're giving Japan with the Premier3 and then I'll think of buying SE Int'l phones again. Or someone can figure out how to make the Premier3 work internationally- I'd be just as satisfied.
