Rogers Wireless' "relolution" coming tomorrow?

We just had this just drop in the mansion's mailbox courtesy of Rogers Wireless. Apparently, the "relolution" is coming, and coming tomorrow. So like the dutiful souls we are, we've cancelled our appointments chez the coiffeur and are gonna just chill and wait. We're not exactly sure -- but we can certainly guess -- what may be arriving: one of two Android-powered sets set to bow on Rogers shortly, that's what (and given a choice, we'd happily take both). Now, will this come pre-packaged with some Cupcake Android 1.5 love, or are we gonna have to wait for the same slow rollout many of you are still dreaming about? More tomorrow, you can count on it. Oh, and Rogers? Please remember, before every "relolution" comes a spellcheck.

I wonder if Rogers is doing a revolution of lulz...

LOL that's a pretty epic spell fail.

Are they including the compass so that you won't need the one all the apple fanboys are going on about? (Do you really need a compass if your phone has GPS?)
Ryan @ May 22nd 2009 4:29PM
That's way too funny
And yes, you do need a compass. I hate when i start my Telenav from a standstill and it's not sure which direction I'm facing. It tells me to continue on whatever road I am on, only to tell me to do a U Turn after a tenth of a mile because it thought I was facing the other direction. It would also be cool to ID photos more accurately with geotagging.

The spelling was intentional. The package comes with a LOLcat.

The "relolution" is the HTC Dream. I went to the Rogers website, clicked "Learn More" under the Revolution ad, click "Join the Revolution" to be one of five winners to get in on the action earlier, and after submitting my personal details, I was shown this message:
"Joining the Revolution puts you ahead of the curve. Not only do you have a chance to be the first to get your hands on the HTC Dream before it launches on June 2nd, you will also be the first to receive launch updates as they happen.
Watch your Inbox and prepare yourself for the Revolution. It's on the way."

If you do get a preview handset, please do everything in your power to determine how Rogers has disabled it (or not). Being an intrinsically internet/open source/java/linux/gps/hacker focused person, who's been burned by carriers in Canada to the degree I'm on the most basic plan possible, this announcement is huge to me, but I don't want to be first in line and find out they disabled key feature.
brenden @ May 23rd 2009 2:03PM
well the revolution should be coming today, but the relolution is aswell
Greg @ May 23rd 2009 6:16PM
The date on the flyer in the picture is 2 June 2009 - not quite tommorrow from 22 May 2009, unless the month of May lost a few days somewhere along the line...

Heh, guess I should've read the text on the card more closely before commenting ;)
