Microsoft's beta My Phone service for Windows Mobile now free to all
Go 'n get it! Microsoft's My Phone service is now ready for all Windows Mobile users to test. The beta service syncs any Windows Mobile 6+ phone to Microsoft's 200MB per person cloud. That includes contacts, calendars, tasks, photos, text messages, music, videos, and more. In essence, anything on the My Phone website is on the phone and vice versa. Hey free is free and this is a goodie.

I guess they copy Nokia's Ovi idea.
ALBGunner04 @ May 19th 2009 5:45PM
Pretty much what I was thinking lol
Brad @ May 19th 2009 7:14PM
Actually, I think they copied Microsoft's Exchange Online idea. You know, from Exchange Server 2003 SP2.

Actually it's more like the cloud that the pre has. Wow the pre is not even out yet and other cell companies are mocking it up!
anthony @ May 19th 2009 12:45PM
Actually, no cell phone company is mocking the Pre. Seeing as Microsoft is a software company, not a hardware company... yet.

It's not a goodie at ALL. It only syncs items stored on the phones physical memory. It will NOT sync anything stored on your Micro SD card.
Q @ May 19th 2009 9:25AM
You sure fluid? It gives you the option to sync off the SD card if you go into the options
Gavin @ May 19th 2009 11:21AM
Thats not true, there is an option to sync storage card in the settings menu.
fluidj @ May 19th 2009 9:31AM
Hmm. I'll have to check that out Q. When I had the early beta, it wouldn't allow for it. It would be great if they have added that capability. Thanks for the heads up.

Next time, use the product OUT OF BETA before complaining about missing features.
anthony @ May 19th 2009 12:46PM
just go into your options and check the SD option and your good to go. Only problem is it takes for ever to back up your info and media files.
crow610 @ May 19th 2009 12:49PM
yea..200 mb

I don't understand what Microsoft has against its own Notes feature. WinMo has never sync'd notes wirelessly and they're leaving it out here too. Blackberry syncs with Exchange/Outlook notes just fine but WinMo treats it like a bastard child it never wanted. I write shit down ALL THE TIME -- that's like half the reason I have a smart phone. At the moment I'm using a G1 and some basic notepad app that doesn't sync with anything. I'd really like to see Google and Microsoft both add some basic functionality for this.

Wow. I so agree.

Still slightly better than mobileme.
Syncs text messages. MobileMe doesn't.
Free. MobileMe isn't.
However - I noted that synchronization is everynight or manually. MobileMe isn't. MobileMe is right when you change.
