T-Mobile G1 revision revealed?
If this looks vaguely familiar, that's because it likely is -- we suspect this image out of Boy Genius Report is a newer (or older) render of the "G1 v2" called out on the recently-leaked Android roadmap out of T-Mobile. It'd make sense -- by October, when this is allegedly hitting retail for $150-ish, the G1 will be getting long in the tooth. What's more, this sucker's clearly running Android, and it's a whole hell of a lot better-looking. More on this as it develops, of course, but in the meantime, that myTouch is looking just a bit less appealing, isn't it?

This looks like an iphone with a keyboard
KwietStorm @ May 8th 2009 2:19PM
Well that myTouch was. Ever appealing to ne in the first place, but this certainly makes my G1 look old. I wonder if this is based on the Memphis? Damn now to choose between this and the Touch Pro 2..or both
KwietStorm @ May 8th 2009 2:22PM
was *never ... Stoopid iPod
Leo161 @ May 8th 2009 2:26PM
Haha yeah you deff. need a real keyboard.
Alex @ May 8th 2009 2:22PM
That looks like a Touch Pro2 but with Android. I hope that's not the case because the TP2 is a brick and uses the same Qualcomm shit HTC used with the TP1 and Diamond 1. Then again, this might not even be an HTC device. Still nice to know it's coming. I'm hoping for the best.
Leo161 @ May 8th 2009 2:24PM
Wow that's pretty hot.
If the specs are the same as the G2/Sapphire this would probably be more worthwhile particularly because it has a keyboard..
Oh and that silver and black thing.I wonder where I've seen that before?
It looks good at least.

I love the rubberized exterior of the current G1 -- probably the only reason I haven't destroyed mine yet. I don't understand how/why anyone would want a shiny, slippery, fingerprint-loving exterior (doesn't really seem like people do since every iPhone I see is nestled in a rubber case). Anyway, hope this thing doesn't feel like the Storm in your hand.

T-Mo getting the TP2 and this!?!?! what the frack. Two of the top 09 devices heading to the worst network? whats next... Palm's hot new device heading to a sub-par network.....oh wait.
Galen20K @ May 8th 2009 6:05PM
Don't forget Huawei's Sleek Android touchphone coming out later this year also!!!
tande @ May 10th 2009 1:04AM
I think the Huawei phone was debunked.
KwietStorm @ May 10th 2009 2:40PM
You sound a little pissed that some good phones are not coming to your network. Try soaking up your tears before ranting on, so you don't sound like a child.
Galen20K @ May 8th 2009 6:03PM
WOw this is SEXY!!! It looks like a Combination of the Touch Pro2 and iPhone.
Hmmmm……….
NOw this will be hard to choose between this and TP2!!!
Never thought I’d have to choose between the Touch Pro2 and another Android device other than my G1. WOwza!
Dan @ May 8th 2009 11:55PM
I call bullshit. The keypad looks like a touch pro and the front looks like an iPhone. The respective parts look WAY too similar to the existing devices.
tande @ May 10th 2009 1:06AM
Its just a blow up off the Wal-mart sheet.
Its real but keep in mind that its just a render so the actual phone could be different.
KwietStorm @ May 10th 2009 2:42PM
You say that like all these phones out here today don't look like another phone available. And if this is a HTC device, why would you be so surprised that the keypad looks similar?
Cosmiccho @ May 9th 2009 2:24PM
I'm with dan that iPhone/tp2 hybrid is too good to b true. Would mos def get it if it was real tho
Cennus @ May 10th 2009 12:37AM
If I can make calls through Wi-Fi, day one purchase for me. I have the worst reception in my basement.
NOV14 @ May 10th 2009 5:37AM
What exactly are you doing in your basement that requires you to use a cell phone - that's the real question here.
KwietStorm @ May 10th 2009 2:53PM
@NOV14
Were you just being sarcastic? Some of us do have furnished basements..
NOV14 @ May 11th 2009 12:00AM
@KwietStorm damn, you caught me. Just being foolish. I live in Miami, so we don't really have basements, unless they're the "I-made-my-own-basement-so-I-could-kill-people-down-here" places.
KwietStorm @ May 11th 2009 3:51PM
lol, I have no further comment on that
fuzzybee @ May 10th 2009 6:18AM
Where's the trackball?
KwietStorm @ May 10th 2009 2:49PM
You didn't notice the touchscreen? Or are you just trolling?
fuzzybee @ May 10th 2009 9:00PM
Huh? What's with the troll comment? In case you didn't notice, the G1 and G2 both have trackballs, *in addition to* a touchscreen. IIRC, it's part of the Android experience.
Now - where's the trackball on this device?
frank @ May 11th 2009 1:12AM
The trackball is often the only way to tell your mobile browser that you want *this* link and not the one that's 2 pixels next to it. And with capacitive touch screens, you don't really have the option of trying to use your fingernail.
KwietStorm @ May 11th 2009 3:50PM
The G1 and "G2" also do not have full touch screen faces, fuzzy.
@frank
If you just enlarge the screen, you can be more precise with your clicks.
magenta_fan @ May 10th 2009 4:11PM
wait is there a trackball?... o.o
teeda @ May 18th 2009 12:10AM
