Alltel caught crashing at Verizon's place
It was just a matter of time before Alltel locations in Verizon markets started winding down and integrating with their new corporate parents, and now, that's finally started to happen. PhoneDog noticed that some markets are already shuttering Alltel stores and moving the carrier's goods to a back wall of the closest Verizon outlet, apparently in an effort to "welcome Alltel customers and get them accustomed to the Verizon culture." Out with the blue, in with the red, as they say -- and if we had to guess, it's just a matter of time before those walls disappear altogether. Sorry, Chad.

You're still a ding-dong!

Hopefully they'll open a 2nd VZW store here then. Right now, at the least busy times of the day you wait a half hour to talk to anyone, and seeing as how Alltel is easily the #2 carrier here, next to VZW, it's going to be ugly if they close the Alltel place and don't open another.

It all depends on how close they are. I think Verizons stores can't be less then 5 miles from each other.

Alltel customers won't have to worry about waiting at Verizon stores to get service. Your account is going to be sold off to some other carrier as soon as Verizon can sort out their new mess with their latest acquisition. The FCC has informed them that they are becoming a monopoly in Minnesota and can not keep the customers in the western Minnesota counties. Who knows who we will be sold off to but maybe they will let you know after it has been completed.

However, if you're in a contract with Verizon - They will honor it until it's completed...
That's at least what I heard from a Verizon Rep
