Verizon tidbits: Storm firmware saga continues, Niagara is the Tour, and more

We're getting a few tasty little morsels seeping out of the Verizon camp this morning, and we just wanted to pass them along -- nothing Earth-shattering here, but
Niagara fans are definitely going to want to learn a new term:
- The BlackBerry 9630 Niagara will definitely be known as the Tour. (Boy Genius Report now has it pegged for July at $199, which certainly seems plausible.)
- The next BlackBerry Storm firmware will be released in May (
we're still expecting this to be 113 until we hear otherwise). Update: 4.7.0.141 is circulating within the company now, so that might be our golden build!
- The Voyager's replacement -- the VX11000 -- will be known as the enV Touch.
- The carrier is "investigating" raising the 5GB cap on its data plan with the LTE rollout, since subscribers will presumably be consuming more.

Um, yeah... if we are going to be getting real world speeds of 10-15 Mbps they sure as hell better raise the caps. 20 GB min.... it should be closer to 50 GB if we are getting 10x the speed as their EV-DO network

There should not have been a cap anyway on EVDO - the ratio of "average consumers" who do not use their phones for internet and those who do is so great, that those who do will see almost no slow down. I think the cap should have only been on data cards and it should have been 10GB.

The data cap is only on data cards and on tethering to a computer. There is no data cap for data usage directly on your phone. It has always been this way. We still should expect to see a bandwidth cap increase with LTE as the 3G network will still hold the vast majority of traffic for a number of years to come and LTE should be able to provide more overall bandwidth anyways.

They don't calculate data properly anyway. I've been tethered for like, 3-4 hours and probably used 150-200mb during that time, checked the website a few days later and it said I used about 13mb. I downloaded a single file that was 48mb, so I know I used more than 13mb.

At least we FINALLY have a name for the vx 11000. :)

Hmm, hope there is no limit. Sprint has no Limit on the 4g Wimax side. But that's how PC Card's started to with everybody. We'll see 5gb will not due

Doesn't anyone care about the Storm update?! Oh my god it feels like it's been forever since an update. Finally, I might not have to endure 3 random restarts a day anymore!

i think a lot of people just upgraded to the Bell .122 update. i did and i haven't had a single random reset. i also get quicker response switching from portrait to landscape, a full keyboard in portrait view, much easier text editing (there's a slider box that you move around until you get to exactly where you need to start making corrections), and a camera that's actually usable (unless i'm using flash, it still takes 15 seconds to take a flash picture). overall, i like the phone a LOT more.

Hopefully that Storm update is early May and not late May - I dont want to wait any longer!

damnit, what's wrong with calling the 9630 "niagra" anyway? sounds a LOT better than "tour"
and wtf i've been waiting for the stupid 9630 to come already, how hard is it to make and roll out a phone that is pretty much the bold/8900 curve with a smaller footprint?
