Carriers on the world still have weeks (or months) to get their butts in gear, but unlocked, unbranded HTC
Touch Diamond2s are now starting to find their way onto retailers' virtual shelves around the world. At the time of this writing, UK-based Devicewire reports that it has 10 in stock -- probably not enough to satisfy worldwide demand, we'd wager, but it's a start -- and Expansys should be close behind, saying that it expects a release today. Devicewire's sticker price is going to set you back £449.99 (about $672) after VAT, so who's in?

Very true, but they'll need to find a way to slow the device down or remove some features.

Nice but yeah, gimme the Touch Pro 2 and please make sure it has US spec radios for 3G data
JerryE @ Apr 15th 2009 7:28PM
US spec radios for 3G? Isn't this phone geared for T-Mobile US 3G, not T-Mobile Europe/Asia/whatever? Don't you mean AT&T spec radios for 3G?

NM - thought I was replying to a different thread. It's been a long day for me.

More importantly, Engadget, when are you going to get one and put up a review?
iLoveApple @ Apr 15th 2009 1:23PM
Yeah, don't be scared to express your mind, Chris. HTC fans aren't as blind, foolish and clueless as Nokia fanboys.
frauhottelmann @ Apr 15th 2009 2:13PM
Mh, the Engadget review would probably be totally unbiased^^ and the conclusion will be: "the iPhone is still better" though it's just soooo not!

I can't remember an HTC device that was worth buying unlocked that didn't have a carrier subsidized alternative for obnoxiously cheaper....except the TouchHD.

The real question is....where can I find this Diana Mayer?!
Gib @ Apr 15th 2009 8:48PM
Creeper

Where's she been all my life?

Buyer beware of any unlocked HTC product. I'm still sitting on an unlocked version 1 HTC Touch Diamond purchased through Best Buy that HTC refuses to support. While all the carrier versions have had patches to fix bugs the unlocked remains "HTC unTouched"
