It's easy to pass off the rumored
Cubic as just another of the seemingly countless Sammy full-touch dumbphones and Windows Mobile smartphones, but hold up a second, there, partner -- rumor has it that this might end up being one of the company's
first Android devices. If you're wondering how the S8000 model number morphed into Cubic, the answer lies not in the cutely cubic d-pad (at least, we hope it doesn't) but rather in the interface, which could sport the usual
TouchWiz with 3D enhancements like we've seen on the
OmniaHD. Add in HSDPA, WiFi, AGPS, FM with RDS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 2GB of internal storage with microSDHC expansion, and a WVGA AMOLED display clocking in at 3.1 inches, and you've got yourself a bona fide superphone here -- only questions are when it'll launch, and how much brutally excessive financial stress we'll need to endure to get it.

I notice you guys currently have this filed under GSM and not CDMA. is it safe to asume us AT&Ters and T-mobilers are the likely candidates for the phone?
Ahmad @ Apr 14th 2009 9:32PM
Yep, that's what HSDPA means.

Samsung's Android will be presented next Monday on 20th of April. And it's not the S8000.
There will be 4 Cubic phones. S8000 - is the basic one.

Hope this isn't pointing out the obvious, but that cube button is perfect for Android.
It has three "faces" visible, each of which is a direction it can tilt or click in, making it a 3-directional button. For example; top "face" for Android's "menu" command, left "face" for Android's "home" command, right "face" for Android's "return" command.
Yeah?

Does Sammy want to die ? TouchWiz is an ugly and anti-ergonic interface, how comes they keep stuck with that ?? How comes they don't get that if someone wants an Android/WinMo/Whatever OS running on a device they want it and NOT a *special and untasty samsung personalized interface* ? They had an oportunity to take over HTC, and it seems they already fail :(

It's not an android phone. Google translated it wrong. See here: http://www.androphones.com/samsung-s8000-android-phone-37.html

The Samsung S8000 is NOT the first Android Samsung mobile phone. The first Android mobile phone from Samsung ist the Samsung I7500 with an AMOLED Display.
