5800 XpressMusic firmware updates brings loads of improvements
Two firmware updates in a month? If you're the 5800 XpressMusic, the answer's yes. Nokia has just pushed out the second update for said smartphone, and this one's packing some serious heat. For starters, the new software promises faster data downloads from the internet, an improved email experience and a better search experience with in-device search. If that's not enough, Nokia's also opening up new camcorder features (second camera support for still image capture in addition to video calls, burst mode that allows people to take multiple pictures one after another without needing to repress the picture taking button) and adding a mobile dictionary with support for 38 languages. Finally, the 'Application Update' gives owners the ability to check (or set to check automatically) for available updates for applications and update them directly in the device. Needless to say, we'd highly recommend you hit this up on the double, and let us know how it goes, yeah?

This is the difference between Nokia and Samsung. Nokia has had two updates with additional features included at no extra charge while us Samsung Eternity owners still sit in the dark waiting for even the first update. I'm really starting to regret the Eternity now. Time for a Nokia 5800, which was what I was going to originally get.

Never pick a phone w/ the name Eternity. It's either how long between updates or what amount of time will have to pass before you buy another product from that company.
But while Darren's excited about the new firmware, I imagine Chris Z's still using his 5800 to pound in nails so he won't notice that Nokia are committed to a good user experience, while also releasing new products on a regular basis.

You also bought a phone subsidized by AT&T. Good luck getting a software update on that any time soon. Unbranded is the way to go. Now if we Nokia would put MediaFLO technology into their phones intended for the NAM that would be great.

Agree completely with Douglas, I'm in the UK, it's the end of April, and still no V20 firmware for the Nokia 5800 on the Orange network. If you're unbranded, O2, or T-Mobile, you're at V20 already and looking forward to V21.
Nokia pushing firmware out means little if the networks don't approve it for network locked handsets.
