Verizon counting on build 113 for its next Storm firmware release, changelog leaked

We've been able to confirm that Verizon currently plans to release version 4.7.0.113 as its next official Storm firmware build -- about time, considering that the last (and only) official upgrade came some four months ago while a countless flurry of interim builds have whizzed by on the interwebs. It gets better, though: we've also scored an official list of fixes and enhancements in 113, which we've broken down after the break. A word of warning: it's a massive, massive list. Read on!- Fixed bug where Mute and End buttons would work incorrectly while using an A2DP headset on a call.
- Fixed bug that caused display to briefly show small, multi-colored dots across the entire screen.
- Fixed bug that could cause a white bar to display on the screen.
- Fixed bug that could cause custom ringtones to play even when phone is set to vibrate.
- Fixed bug where pictures taken in landscape mode and sent could show in portrait.
- Fixed rare bug causing notifications not to show for incoming text messages.
- Fixed bug causing call timer to intermittently show incorrectly.
- Fixed bug causing an error and possibly display issues when more than 40 items are present in the call log.
- Fixed rare bug where multitap keypad could behave like SureType keypad.
- Fixed bug where if a music artist is deleted from the phone, the artist's tracks could still show.
- Fixed bug preventing renaming of file extensions on music playlists.
- Fixed bug causing choppy audio playback on downloaded WMA files.
- Fixed rare bug where phone could reset while recording a video for MMS attachment.
- Fixed bug that could cause the device to stop responding and display an error when pausing a video recording.
- Fixed bug that prevented the backlight from timing out while playing streamed video content.
- Fixed bug with display of track names containing periods.
- Reduced amount of time it takes to begin playing MP3 files.
- Fixed bug that could cause viewfinder to not display correctly when camera is started in portrait mode and quickly flipped to landscape.
- Fixed bug that occasionally caused screen to briefly show white after taking a picture.
- Fixed rare bug that caused phone to reset when taking a picture with image stabilization and white board effect enabled.
- Fixed rare bug where camera application would remain open after user had closed it.
- Fixed rare bug where camera application would start without being commanded to do so.
- Fixed bug that could cause phone to go to EV-DO after an automatic reset when it is in 1X-only mode.
- Improved capability in auto off/on functionality for connecting to wireless networks when turning back on.
- Enhanced system to ensure OTA updates continue if media card is removed.
- Added Arabic language support.
- Added full support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish in the East Asia language pack.
- Added rendering support for Indonesian Bahasa, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
- Added "Go" buttons next to address and search fields in the browser and search application respectively.
- Added Phone icon to home screen.
- Removed Call Log icon in Applications folder.
- Device can now be upgraded OTA using either internal memory or a media card.
- Improved volume consistency across applications and calls.
- Fixed rare bug to prevent uncommanded scrolling of text.
- Improved speed when composing messages.
- Improved speed in Calendar application when selecting "go to date".
- Fixed bugs to ensure Application Permission screen is always correctly displayed.
- Fixed various bugs causing device resets.
- Fixed rare bug causing device to freeze while using Voice Dial.
- Improved accuracy of signal strength meter.
- Fixed rare bug where phone could lose data connectivity.
- Fixed bug to ensure new languages can always be added.
- Fixed bug to ensure phone always vibrates and beeps for incoming text messages when it is set to do so.
- Fixed bug that could cause device to not allow text messages to be sent to numbers in the Frequently Dialed Number list.
- Fixes to make sure emails are always displayed correctly.
- Fixed bugs that could cause static on phone calls.
- Fixed bug that could prevent audio from routing through a Bluetooth headset when using speed dial.
- Enhancements to ensure that phone features are not accidentally accessed when phone is held up to ear.
- Fixed bug to ensure holding down the 1 button always triggers voicemail.
- Fixed bug that could prevent .odf files stored on media cards from playing correctly.
- Fixed bug that could inform the user they don't have rights to play music when the message is not necessary.
- Fixed bug causing popping noises in downloaded songs.
- Improved display of files saved on media cards in all applications.
- Fixed bugs preventing creation and opening of playlists in some circumstances.
- Fixed bug that could prevent access to the Music Library from the Options menu in the media player.
- Improved support for streaming video content whose URLs are longer than 512 characters.
- Fixed bug preventing correct display of streaming video content sent in a text message.
- Improved accuracy of progress bars displayed when downloading files.
- Fixed bugs preventing preview of songs when using V CAST Rhapsody.
- Fixed bugs preventing playback of video recorded on the phone.
- Improvements to prevent intermittent error messages displayed in the media player.
- Sped up display of pictures.
- Fixed bug that could cause pictures to display at the wrong resolution.
- Fixed rare bug causing device to lock while typing.
- Fixed bugs involving incorrect display of keyboard.
- Made sure device remains in portrait mode while being unlocked in portrait mode.
- Full QWERTY keyboard now available in portrait mode.
- Improved performance and stability with pre-loaded games.
- Fixed bug causing Incoming Call screen to not show when user is in some applications.
- Fixed bug that could prevent LED indicator from turning on when device is charged.
- Fixed bug causing Enterprise Activation screen to show after activation is complete.
- Improved display rotation speed while viewing contacts.
- Improved data call setup when switching wireless technologies.

I've been running .113 for a couple of weeks now (got it from Crackberry.com) and can say that if you're going from .75 to .113 it's like night and day, almost seems like a completely different phone. With that said, there are still significant flaws in .113 and several "in the know" on the Crackberry boards say that RIM is currently up to versions .17X or .18X which are significant improvements over .113.

Golub is right... anyone going from .75 to .113 will think they have a new phone. It really is nice. There are ways posted on CrackBerry to fix some of the imperfections of .113 (or any other leaked OS really)... all you have to do is search the threads. I suggest anyone on .75 go get .113. Its not perfect, but its better.

I hope it is not .13 as the GSM problem for edge/EDGE connectivity is not fixed and the browser is very slow when first trying to connect to a website. Slower then it ever was on my Pearl.

yea i have this update if you have .75 you will probably have a heart attack on how different it is from .75 i was comparing and contrasting mine with .113 to my friends with .75 it boggled my mind

personally after updating my Bbr to the .99 update it game me a lot of bugs after only having the update for
1 day i decided to get a curve and im never looking back... i think the storm is a awesome device dnt get me wrong
but the fact that this device has soo many bugs Rim should have fix them before releasing the device, i mean
we pay for a device that was suppose to rival the iphone and insted we got a half bake phone?!?!
until the bugs are fix a lot more people will complain about this phone i mean just look at the list of bugs this phone has

it IS rivaling the iphone and following in its footsteps. Get it out there, and then update it as you go; that's how Apple works, too. There were lots of bugs with the iPhone when it came out, and some more when the iPhone 3G came out.

they also don't mention the new text select/copy feature added in .113 (or possibly a slightly earlier build). the new select method is a major improvement over the original - I'm surprised it's not in the change log.

It was not quite in the terms of Accelerometer, but in the last few changes it did make mention to speeding up the switch between portrait and landscape

yeah, sounds great, but i think they need to stop focusing on media aspects when the main purpose of a blackberry is really stability, reliability and ease of use... focus more on the technical bugs involving email calls and text, not about tracks not being deleted because you deleted the artist name... its very frustrating.

Installed .113 a few days ago (thank you Crackberry.com) and agree with the others that it's like having a new phone. Be sure to go into advanced settings for TwitterBerry and disable compatibility mode. That way it will work in landscape and portrait.
I took this phone to SXSW and was surrounded by a bunch of iPhones that were dead in the water. I seemed to be the only one who could call in/out, browse the 'net, etc.

i hate .113. At least 2 daily random reboots, MMS problem still not fixed, Txt selection tool is better but not amazing, massive memory leak. Im going back to .109 or .114 hybrid.
very not impressed. I would rather have my phone run slightly slower on .75 than reboot on me every day with .113.

I just plugged my Storm in to do my weekly backup, and it tells me that updates are available. Installing it now. Looks like it might be official, I'll let everyone know what I find out!

Did it work? From .103 hybrid it tells me there are no OTA upgrades. Were you on .75 and then plugged in and it told you that .113 was officially available? Please let me know!

Bit of bad news. The upgrade that was installed was the leaked .113. I installed it, went back to .75, and apparently did not uninstall .113 when I was finished. So, now I feel like a big dummy.

I hope Verizon doesn't release .113 since it has serious issues with the radio software. When in a fringe or poor reception area the radio will show 3 or 4 bars but it will have no data connection and even worse, the phone will not receive calls. This is a critical flaw if you depend on the device for business as there is no indication of a problem until you try to send a message (unsuccessfully) or manually turn off the radio and are unable to at which point it's too late and you've already missed calls.

That's what you get for installing leaked beta OS. What else do you expect besides a bumpy ride? Chances are the official release will have most of the issues ironed out, so don't be in a rush to pre-judge it or you'll mislead other less informed people.

There is no difference between a leak and the release version from Verizon, OS .113 is the same regardless. It will just be a stamp with the word "official".

hmmmmm with a list like that you wonder if anyone actually even tested the phone to begin with.... im running .114 hybrid v2.. communication is now tolerable. It pains me because I know this phone is so much more capable. I would like to know who knew about all of these defects when the device was launched... imagine a sticker with the list noted above stating " buy at your own damn risk" ps its $35 if you want to exchange it for a different phone....

along with some of the fixes listed, one of my main concerns has been the random horrible audio quality i experience sometimes while on calls. i sound super muffled and at it's worst i cannot be understood at all. it is frustrating for the other person on the phone, but frustrating for me because i don't know how to immediately fix it for at least the duration of the call. i know it they are not specific to my problem, but i'm hoping the "Improved volume consistency across applications and calls" or the "Fixed bugs that could cause static on phone calls" could be the solution or at least the fixing of all these bugs will somehow improve the audio quality too. can anybody relate or do those of you who have downloaded the leaked version notice an improvement? thx

Hey I just wanted to let you guys know my girlfriend had the exact same problem with her storm and it ended up being a hardware problem with the phone. She and I both got Storms at the same time... mine was great but hers, like you said, was really muffled and sounded like she was talking with her hand over her mouth. I couldn't stand it so I took it back to the Verizon store. They swapped it out with a new one no questions asked and now her's is great too. I wouldn't wait for a software fix becuase trust me, its really annoying when you can't understand the person on the other end.

I hope the 113 build is not the official one or the same one from the crackberry site. I love everything about it but I have notice since the update now when I try and post pics from my phone to myspace, facebook, etc they don't post and I have to do it the old school way and email them to the providor site. Or hook my phone up via usb and xfer them to my computer then post. Of course it takes the convience of doing it right from my phone away.

I have .113 on my phone and its a major improvement. I've been running it for 2 weeks and I don't get memory leaks or random reboots. For me the cut/ paste tool is the biggest change. I do have one problem. When the phone is locked I have to hit the BB key or the back key before I unlock the phone. Answering calls and taking pictures are much improved but still not 100%. Guess we will have to wait and see if the official update is an improvement over the leaked one. With that said, I do see a light at the end of the tunnel...

official .113 will be the same as the leak. If it was changed in any way it would have a different number.
And people are saying that going from .75 to .113 will yeild far better results than going from a beta to .113 because it flashes the ROM wich fixes at least the MMS issue. I went from .109 to .113 and it was terrible. I have .114v3 running right now, im going to test it until the official is released then downgrade to .75 and upgrade to .113

I upgraded to .114 a couple of weeks ago, and I love it! I purchased my Storm in January, and it had v.75 installed. I haven't experienced most of the bugs on the long list above, but I have experienced about 5 or 6 of them. The new OS has resolved the issues for me and is now stable. Here are the biggest annoyances as I've experienced them, and again- all are now resolved!!:
- Slow response when switching from landscape to portrait & vice versa.
- Glacially slow response when taking pictures. It would take a few seconds for the camera to take a picture after pressing the button
- Copy functionality was next to useless. It's SOOOOO much better to use now.
- Periodically reboots w/out warning (probably happened to me once a week). Now resolved (so far!!)
I hope v.113 is as good to me as the unoffical v114 has been. I'll install it since it's an official Verizon release, and I don't want to have any issues down the road for not having a sanctioned version. But if I have problems, I'll go right back to the boot-leg v.114!!

Any idea on a release date? Surely someone has a VZW insider they know. Storm is really difficult if you use it for your job. Getting tired of hoping for an official release. remember when we though .85 was going to be "official" 4 months ago? Anything has to be better than .75.
