Samsung Finesse comes to MetroPCS
$349 sounds a bit steep for a phone like this until you realize that you're getting it completely free of the surly bonds of a contract -- and that's exactly how MetroPCS likes to roll. The new Finesse from Samsung is one of the highest-end feature phones the regional carrier has rolled out to date, looking a bit like a CDMA Behold and offering a 2 megapixel cam, full touchscreen, microSD expansion, and 150MB of storage on-board. They're quoting "2-3 weeks" for online availability, so that gives you a few all-important days to save up that loose change.

First Boost woth the i9...now Metro PCS with this (and the Blackberry I might add)...not bad for a non-contract option.

MetroPCS got a touch screen phone. Waits for all the cheap gangsters in my school to get this phone. All of them jumped on the Samsung Messager. But touch screen for metro, this is big in the miami school ghetto world. 0_0

the problem is: does it support band IV CDMA?
bb curve was a failure because of that (no band IV, can't use it in NYC)

you mean tri-band and yes it does.

it works on AWS (NYC) and yes its a great phones, for them there could have been a few changes on the phone to make it better but it is what it is, and dont hold your breath on the evoke

The phone is def. an upgrade for Metro phones, the best thing about the whole thing is NO CONTRACT, for a monthly flat rate of $66 you have ful access to Internet at fairly high speeds, GPS, and many more great features. When its all said and done this phone is great and would rate as a 9.

how do you figure your facts when claiming that the finesse has full internet access? i have the phone, and the plan, and its slower than my moto l7c aka slvr.i can go online, but if i cant utilize one webpage, then i do not have full access do i? no youtube = limited access. even still login to gmail and it says for a better gmail experience, use a fully supported browser. if the browser is partially supported, that means there are actions that i cannot execute. and that is not what unlimited means.

The phone has liberated me from my laptop. I have a security video web site for my home that I now can access via my MPCS touch phone. I love the access the speed the options the navigator. we recently drove tot he other coast and along the way several fires closed roads we were to use. I told my husband keep going straight the navigator will take us another way. It did.
While we were away I checked my house via homesite security, on my phone, replied to email, took pictures sent them to relatves that were unable to join us so they were still there in spirit. Oh an was able to stay up on things with friends by accessing facebook. all on the samsung finesse phone. I love Metro PCS and L love the freedom of the Samsung finesse.

The finesse is kind of like Iphone ultralight. It comes with a few applications, and I can download a few others and there are some for sale. I have yet to find an app I would download or pay for. They are pretty lame.
The GPS is freaking great! Worth the price of the phone by itself. It does the talking thing (one male, one female voice), and has 3 different map configurations you can use. It also searches for restaurants, movies, events, coffee shops based on my location etc... And it will "follow me" and track how far I travel (or walk). It also has maps and will just list directions you can email or print (bluetooth).
The MP3 player is one of the best sounding I have found. Hands down beats my Ipod nano. It comes with a wired headset, but I put in an order for a bluetooth stereo headset for my birthday. It holds an 8 gig micro SD card. I got a 2 gig one with the phone. Video looks great. It has a limited accelerometer that only works with the video and images. It sports a 2meg camera/video camera which takes pretty good pictures for a phone. The video camera is marginal at best. The pictures are easily web quality, the video meets youtube standard quality.
The Full qwerty keyboard is much better than I would have thought. You can "feel" it when you touch the keys as it has a (variable) clicking vibration when you hit a key.
I rate the browser and web access a 6 our of 10. It lets me do the things I need right now, but is nothing to write home about. You can expand and shrink the browser view, but not with your fingers, but rather a slide bar. It does not support Flash.
The email app supports all of the main web based email sites EXCEPT hotmail... But I can access it via the browser though it sucks to do so. The Mobile instant messenger supports both AOL and MSN.
All and all I am pretty pleased with it. It was $349 and my phone/data plan is $50 a month for unlimited phone, web, mail, text, gps, etc... It does not come with separate wifi which is probably the thing I am most disappointed about, but hey, I knew that when I bought it and it's not an iphone...
