BlackBerry 9630 Niagara headed to Verizon in May?
"Buckle up folks," because if the TheStreet actually has any, er, street cred, then it looks like the BlackBerry 9630 Niagara might very well be hitting Verizon Wireless by May. Citing omnipotent BlackBerry gods / "analysts familiar with the plan," the oft leaked device should indeed be landing fairly soon. Obviously, no word on price or even an official acknowledgment that the damn thing exists from RIM, but this latest intel -- coupled with whispers we've heard of hardware finalization -- makes us think that this is definitely nearing release. We just hope they can at least make the phone turn on (and stay on) by the time they get it to market.

this is good. This could definetaly signify a release on bell, telus and sprint as well around that time. I would hope this is correct and i have heard may as early as last year. Let us hope. On a sidenote, will the podcast be up today?

They better not "tweak" this phone!!
N.Rosario @ Mar 19th 2009 5:13PM

All I know is that if sprint sucks YET again and doesn't catch the first release of this phone, I'm going to be furious.

Just follow Verizon's Blackberry release pattern, and May is a no-brainer.
1. Storm 11/08
2. Curve 05/08
3. Pearl 11/07
4. 8830 05/07
Anyone else see a pattern?

I'm so confused. Some say it does, some say it doesn't.... does the damn thing have a SurePress touchscreen or not?!?!?!
Shred Nasty @ Apr 9th 2009 2:57AM
Pssh, NO! The only rumored "touch" devices are the Pluto 9900 and the Magnum, neither of which are CDMA and neither of which are confirmed to have SurePress, or a regular touch screen. The 9630 is basically a 8900 Curve with Storm guts and double the app mem - the on board 1gb for ringtones ect.....
As a Storm owner that's burned through every leaked OS available, I will deffinatly be unloading my trash (Storm) @ the curb and picking up a Niagara.
BTW, if Sprint plays it's cards PERFECTLY, bluffs a little, gets REALLY lucky, and gives a tug job to Obama, MAYBE 2009 won't be it's last year in business. No BB device can save their sub-par services. Expect a Sprint takeover by Verizon within 24 months, kinda like Alltel......so who cares if they get this phone?
