Sprint Treo Pro now finally available, for real this time
After months of delays and at least one false start, the Sprint Treo Pro is finally on sale as promised -- and from what we can tell, Sprint reps are already confusing the Pre and the Pro. Ouch. Nevertheless, we're glad to see this thing make it out into the world -- anyone going to drop the $199?

Maybe, if this was for T-Mobile.

They do. it's called unlocked GSM

I’m sorry, and this is no dig. I have had the Treo Pro (the GSM unlocked) since early October, and I like it a lot. Before my BlackBerry days, I was a total Treo nut, which this essentially is.
The Pro is awesome, and I’m only not using it because I prefer my BlackBerry Bold.
Here’s my question: What’s so great about this Palm Pre??? From what I’ve read and seen of the Pre, I would never want to get that thing.
Congrats to all Sprint folks who get it. If you like any of the Treo’s (or Centro’s for that matter), you’ll love the Pro…Not Pre..LOL

Any word on a Verizon release?

Verizon and Palm don't get along so well apparently, so i highly doubt that.
and the Pre has people excited because of all of the features the new OS has. essentially, it supposedly functions like a more business-centric iPhone. just YouTube 'Palm Pre' if you want to know why it has so many excited. the thing is crazy slick.

PALM PRE....LAUNCHING JUNE 1, 2009. The day all the iphone contracts are up :-)
youngcalihottie @ Mar 15th 2009 11:36PM
two year original iphone contracts are up june 29th actually. but at&t does this tricky thing that someone at sprint failed to realize (if they are in fact trying to launch it at the end of iphone contracts)... at&t lets customers upgrade 22 months into the contract. so if anyone renews april 29th, they'll be stuck in a new two year contract before the pre comes out. i dont know if its true what people say about other carriers that each customer has two dates (an upgrade eligible date for devices and a contract end date), but at&t only uses one date. the only kinda exception was the iphone 1, since it wasn't subsidized. customers were able to renew their contracts to either get an iphone 1 from any previous phone or to get an iphone 3g if they had the 1st one. so its possible many people who had an iphone 1 upgraded to a 3g already and renewed their contract, meaning they still have another full year. june 1 is either going to be a month too late or a year too early for most iphone users.

Available in SF YESTERDAY and, $179 in Sprint stores.... save yourself $20.

I found it for 49.99 at http://deals.sprintshops.com...no mail in or anything. Pretty sweet... I like the phone, too. I used to have the 700w on verizon, and I wondered why they deviated away from the traditional Pocket PC interface (even tho I do like the Touch Flo interface). The Pro has a more traditional setup, and the physical buttons "line up" perfectly to do what I want them to do...the Pro seems like its going to go under the radar as one of the better phones.

a word against the pre. Blasphemy.
kompulsive @ Mar 16th 2009 12:38AM
I'm getting this while I wait for the Pre.

If someone would make an Android build for it, I'd be all over it.

Picked Ms. Pro up earlier today @ my local Sprint location.
Totally in love. I'm waiting for some cooked ROMS and some tweaks and hacks to come out. I'm going to see about porting WM 6.5 onto it already.
OH how the hallelujah chorus sings. FINALLY they launched it!
