Card counting iPhone app frowned upon in Vegas

Usually, it's Apple who has the problem with a potential app. Now, it's The Man taking issue with one that Cupertino deemed fit for distribution. Nevada gaming officials have been tipped off a card counting application that can be installed on the iPhone and iPod touch, which would obviously give Blackjack gamers an upper-hand over the system. According to control board member Randy Sayre, using a device to "aid in the counting of cards is considered a felony under Nevada laws governing cheating," and considering that the program can even be used in "stealth mode," it could be easy to miss unless you're really on the lookout. Of course, it's up to individual casinos to determine their policies on cellphones, but if you were planning to counter this recession by racking up on ten straight 21s this weekend, you might want to seriously consider the consequences first.

I don't have an iPhone or Touch so i'm confused.
Does this app teach you to count cards as well or is it just to be used at the Blackjack tables?

I dont know exactly how it works, but anyone who has EVER been to Vegas knows they will watch you like hawks, I would be very surprised if anyone could even get away with this.

yeh this might be fun with your buddies but itll never fly in a real casino. they watch you like hawks not even in vegas, besides the hundreds of cameras. Never been to a casino that allows cellphones to be out at the tables, for obvious camera phone security reasons among others.

I was just looking at the description and it looks like the app just teaches you to count cards. Not actually used while at the Table... SO you could use it to hone your skillz and head to the casino... I downloaded 21 Pro which is free for the ad version and it teaches you how to count and lets you practice but this looks like it goes way more in depth. I think i may try it out... I'll tell ya if i win some G's

This app teaches you how to count cards or it actually does it for you?! If it simply teaches you, then I don't see why it's different than learning from any other source.

If they were smart they would have used the accelerometer to detect leg movement for input, and vibrate for output. Then you could keep the thing in your pocket the whole time.
