We've gotten tips from all over the country today saying that
Curve 8900s are
very hard to come by at T-Mobile locations, and now, we have a better idea why. T-Mobile hooked us up with an official statement on the situation saying that presales were "robust," which led to phones being available only in very small numbers in-store out of the gate. Naturally, we're sure T-Mob's working closely with RIM to get these suckers out to anyone who wants them as quickly as possible, but in the short term, going the online route might be your best bet if you want one in your hands on the double. See the full statement straight from the horse's mouth after the break.
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
"Presales of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 from T-Mobile have been robust, and we continue to experience strong demand through launch. Due to its popularity, quantities may be limited in some stores, and we are working to meet the strong demand. The Curve 8900 is also available online at T-Mobile.com, and by calling 1-800-T-MOBILE. We're pleased to see our customers' excitement for the thinnest, lightest full-QWERTY BlackBerry on the market."

Man....if only this phone were on a real 3G network like Sprints
Krishawn @ Feb 12th 2009 12:19AM
Jesus. Sprint does have a good network, but thank god that a good phone isn't being wasted on such a crappy company like sprint. *shudders*
If I see another commercial with Dan Hesse toting sprint like he cares, I'm going to scream. It was bad enough that he WAS a part of ATT.
SPRINT SUCKS
I'd ALWAYS rather have a slower phone, on a better carrier.
END OF STORY.

It wouldn't matter whether this phone was offered a "real" 3G network such as Sprint... The phone doesn't support 3G. Rumored later this year that a 3G enabled Curve will surface.

Just got mine about 4hrs ago....I love this phone but there's too much going on. I was trying to watch UNC@Duke, trying to eat, trying to play with my phone....trying to charge it. There's not enough time and I have to go to work tomorrow :-)

Great, even longer before employees can order the phone.

I just ported from Sprint using their 3G enabled Curve.
You know, I don't miss 3G or all that bloated software they stick on it.
This new 8900 rocks and T-Mobile's voice quality sounds so clear and rich.
The screen is absolutely vibrant and crisp and the keyboard is nearly perfect.
I was one of those who got lucky and got one of these early on before the official launch. Everyone who sees it comments on how good looking it is and are blown away at the WiFi calling feature.
Our company execs have been told to test the UMA feature when calling back to the US while in London to see if we are able to save some serious cash being that many of our users travel there frequently.
Awesome device RIM! Awesome experience so far T-Mobile!

Selling like hotcakes???yeah sure call me when zero to 1 million in 72 hours. We all know who holds that record n will for decades to come. This phone is ajoke no touchscreen tiny buttons did I say tiny screen,. It's so 2003.
hfm @ Apr 24th 2009 10:43AM
Apple sold 1 million in 74 days.. not 72 hours..

Got mine this morning over the phone. Not even eligible for an upgrade for another 19 months... and yet actually got it cheaper than the price shown on tmobile.com... AND I don't have to worry with the mail-in rebate crap either. Tmo is by far the best carrier out there for customer service. They definitely have and continue to get my vote.
Antton @ Feb 12th 2009 10:12AM

I got one for my son the 11th , the day it came out and it was the last one in the store. He is very comfortable with it as he switch over from the sidekick 3, he just turned 18 and he's a senior so I thought I would upgrade him with a better phone. At first he was blackberry, blah, no way. But as soon as he tried the older models from his friends he became a Crackberry addict. I used the phone very little and I believe it has very high potential in become a great phone, 3G or not. I'm still on the Blackberry Pearl, waiting for a 3G Blackberry Phone from T-Mobile, hopefully soon, my patience is running thin, get with it T-Mobile. Has anyone one heard anything about this? Gemini Balckberry 3G??T-Mobile is far the best in Customer service, personally saying, I have had the rest and they are no way in T-Mobile's league. If they come out with some Better phones, which I believe they will, HURRY UP T-MOBILE, they will possibly be one of not the Best Carrier..
thereugo @ Feb 13th 2009 5:03PM
clearification " Gemini Blackberry 3G??? & " they will possibly be one if not the Best Carrier"..
