We begged and pleaded for an official announcement back when we saw this beauty
all boxed up, and comically enough, we're still waiting for that release. Nevertheless, Sprint has quietly hosted up the long awaited
CDMA Treo Pro on its webstore, giving those with an unquenchable thirst for more Windows Mobile something to lust over. For whatever reason, this thing is being priced at $249.99 with a two-year contract ($549.99 free and clear), though we get the feeling that figure will be dropping mighty quickly. Let's just go ahead and call it the
Pre effect.
Update: Looks like Sprint's pulled the Treo Pro page from its site already, so they're either not quite ready to hawk it yet or we're looking at the quickest discontinuation in consumer electronics history.

Make that $349/2-yr contract unless you opt for _approved_ plans which require overkill/overspending, ala iPhone.

Sprint's plans are pretty reasonable, especially with SERO or whatever they are calling it now.

^If you have to game the system to get a fair shake from Sprint, knowing all along that millions of others are not receiving the same treatment, is a standard I cannot lower myself to. Thanks anyway.

Even if you don't game the system they are cheap. Hence the first part of the sentence. A comparable plan on Sprint with unlimited sms / data will probably run $20 less than Att.

^Especially when Sprint forces a phone purchase to carry more low-value "services" than the majority of users consistently use. Just as satellite/cable companies add Starz/Encore/GarbageTV 'service' to the quality movie channel packs to give the false-impression of 'value'. Talk about contractual extortion while simultaneously insulting consumers' intelligence!

Who cares about a webkit-based phone that sports itself as a quasi-infotainment/smartphone, yet has nothing even remotely close to a secure backbone?

I wouldn't mind seeing this phone with the new Palm OS. I love this form factor but Windows Mobile just doesn't cut it compared to BB for me.

Yes, 1/25/09 is what sprint rep told me. I tried to buy it this morning. LMAO.
