You know Palm's on to something when reputable sites start to splinter around its newly announced OS and handset.
PhoneArena's fledgling sister site,
WebOS Arena, has it from a "credible source" that Best Buy will be the exclusive retailer for the Palm Pre. That means that Best Buy will be the only place other than Sprint where you'll find the Pre for purchase on US soil for the first 60 days after launch (whenever that might be). Assuming the rumor is true of course.

Right next to the cheap SD cards.....
is anybody out there privy to why any phone in this day and age would
not have expandable memory? I mean, is it that hard to do? I just
don't understand, it seems like a no brainer to me.

yea it does seem like a very odd decision to me as well. i mean sure it has 8GB of internal storage, but maybe people will need more over the course of them having the phone. and i know i personally like to pop the card out my smartphone and stick it in my laptop because it takes so much longer to transfer stuff with the sync cable cause it has to convert everything. they did say that it would function as a mass storage device though which relinquishes my fear of that happening all the time. but you'll still need a Micro USB cable handy all the time.

you know i have never seen anyone buy a contract cellphone at anywhere other than the dedicated stores. i always see them at places like Best Buy, Wal-Mart, and Circuit City, but nobody actually buys them from what i've seen. i would buy mine from the Sprint store anyway.

You are right, I have never seen anyone buy an Iphone at an Apple Store or Best Buy, I can't Belive they would even carry it since they never sell any

Best Buy kills the Sprint stores on some phones prices since the mail in rebate you get from Sprint are instant at Best Buy. Back in June I upgraded to the Instinct for $229.99 and $100 mail in which I got back in about 7 weeks. A buddy of mine when to Best Buy right when they started selling it and paid $129 in the store. The same thing is going on now with the Instinct being $199 and a $100 mail in with Best Buy being $99 out the door. My guess would be something similar will happen with the Pre and if that is the case I will be pciking it up and Best Buy instead of the Corp. stores.

Shop at Best Buy... You'd be surprised how many people actually purchase phones from them based on the fact that not too many people realize that Best Buy is able to activate phones and offer better deals.

April 1st.

Dan is absolutely correct.
Best Buy doesen't make you fool around with a mail-in rebate which makes them the winners in my book.
CJ @ Jan 16th 2009 12:20AM
Lol! They'll price it at $1800 with $1600 in rebates. I hate Best Buy and how they charge out their rather large asses and then give me a bizzillion in rebates. Come on! Sell me the phone for what Sprint does out the door and let me leave the store.,.I don't particularly like being raped.
brandnewnes @ Jan 16th 2009 12:45AM
CJ... Are you being serious here?! Have you ever even looked at the phone prices at Best Buy or stepped into a Best Buy Mobile?? They do not have any mail-in rebates and well over half the time the phones are cheaper after instant savings compared to dealer stores.
Best Buy Mobile @ Jan 16th 2009 4:21PM
yeah, you're dumb
Best Buy Mobile @ Jan 16th 2009 4:23PM
Oh, and all signs point to yes on the exclusive.
