The G1 was NOT great. It was marginally good. It was sorely lacking in several features of the more high end phones (nokia N-series, sony ericssons, etc...). The camera sucked, the bluetooth implementation sucked, it didn't do video, there's still no skype client that uses WiFi properly, and all the apps are java-based (read: unholy slow). The google guys did a fantastic job with the core software, but the 1st-gen handset they chose to run it on was kind of a POS when compared to other similarly priced handsets (sim-unlocked of course).

The only draw was Android which by its nature will only improve. But the hardware.... It basically only works on T-mo's 3G network in the US, which is pretty much the laughing stock of the entire wireless industry right now. At LEAST work in an antenna that would work with AT&T's 3G network for pete's sake!

skyshock21
