iCEphone makes trip to CES, remains unwieldy
So, there's good news and bad news. Being that we enjoy handing out the former first, we'll point out the fact that the Windows Mobile-powered iCEphone made the trip to Vegas in order to be showcased at CES. The bad? There's still no pricing nor US availability to take into consideration. Granted, the phone is designed to be used primarily during emergencies, but that doesn't make patience any easier to come by.

So, if you bend the top segment backward does it continue to flip the lower segments until you hit the bottom? Those were entertaining when made of wood, so who knows how cool this could be.

X-D I wish I could rep you for that.

Am I still the only person getting the impression that the man behind this company is more than a little cracked? The market targeting on this thing is more schizophrenic than an inflatable tuba that doubles as a microwave.
His medical software's neat. The idea of a more well thought-out emergency mode is neat. The form factor is... kinda neat, but not very well put to use. That's three neat things that don't make sense put together (including the two medically oriented items).
For the love of gadgets, someone get this man a market design engineer!

The iCEphone may seem a little quirky to those of you looking solely at aesthetics - however, this mobile is aimed at the military (two versions are planned - one for the Military and one for those who will also be in fairly extreme circumstances - such as back-packing, oil rigging, hiking or mountaineering, or simply globe-trotting.
It is ruggedized to survive life-threatening situations for the owner, and the phone. It is a Sat Nav , a notebook, a gamesplayer and a mobile, but the neatest trick is the ability to send your location straight to those who need to know along with details of your medical condition, and or the sequence of medical moves already performed on you or someone close to you.
Don't just see it as a day use phone for the city. Think of those who are not in normal environments but need to know that help is there if and when they need it.
