Phone Scoop is reporting that
doomsday is imminent for Motorola, possibly as soon as this week. First off, up to half of employees from the company's handset division will be shown the door, though the other divisions -- Enterprise Mobility Solutions and Home & Networks Mobility -- will be unaffected. Fewer employees inevitably leads to fewer phones, and it's being said that Moto will produce just twelve models per year; among smartphones,
only Android will be considered. What's more, the company is pulling out of April's CTIA show -- the largest mobile event in the States -- so it looks like that Android gear won't be coming until later on. We'll have more on this as soon as we know what's up.

But they should have seen it coming! Oh, this must be Motorola then.

Actually, expecting to be fired at any moment is the normal state for a motorolan. Having it actually happen can be something of a relief.

still the management does everything in their power to surprise the engineers. they have perfected this skill and it is one of the very few they have.

this is not true!!!
if you go to motorola's web you can see CTIA Wireless 2009 as upcoming event and if you go to the ctia's web you can also see motorola on the member's list and where it's booth will be located.
so, motorola will be at CTIA 2009.
and i had emailed motorola asking if they were going to introduce new phones at mwc 2009 and ctia 2009 and they told me that they will introduce new smartphones at both events!

Motorola published her Phones to late. The People want new things…. New President, new Blackberrys and even the new Android OS. HTC wait only with new Models because he want let the T-mobile G1 a chance.
I like Motorola but the Time is over….
Dont forget next year 2010 the suppliers contracts from Apple ending. So Apple
will probably present a new Iphone, maybe this Summer.?… The Time is over for Motorola, bad Company Management.

any new juice on what motorola's home division plans to do with android ? Put in other words (!), do they plan any downsizing there ? in yet other words, just how long will the G behemoth stay away from the home domain?
