This is funny ... and very interesting. This is the very first we heard of the "Palm Castle," which means Palm did a perfect job, essentially, of keeping that code name under wraps.
Now, we've every reason to believe that the Pre is the Castle (it was in the Pre email, after all), but what if it isn't?
I, for one, am dying to know what the next WebOS device will be because I'm hoping for something a little bit different/better than the Pre (specifically, expandable memory (no, 8gb doesn't cut it)). If they don't announce anything else by launch then the Pre is mine, of course.
The Palm website says the Pre supports USB mass storage. Thus, I can only conclude that it has a memory card slot already, most likely micro SDHC. So there's your number one concern taken care of.
Nope, USB Mass Storage mode means you can plug the Pre into the USB slot of a computer (via the charge cable, obviously) and the Pre, itself, will act as a Mass Storage device, or USB key or portable hard drive. SDHC is THE key acronym. Without it, it MicroSDHC does not exist on this device.
USB Mass Storage mode is a god-send for mobile devices and one of the few key reasons I would never even consider an iPhone. There are a couple apps for the old Palm/Garnet OS that do this. I use, rely on and love Card Reader. My Treo 650/680/Centro wouldn't be sorely lacking without it. With the Pre, it comes built in.
A 'Castle' to protect Palm from the cruel, vicious outside world where their customers live and breathe. I'm surprised the in-house name wasn't "Let Them Eat Cake!". ;)

And I suppose you think Palm has a SECOND new OS coming out, then. Good Grief.
