You got lowest-ranked just for having your own opinion of what an iPhone killer is. What a crappy group.
An iPhone killer is any handset that looks, feels and works even close to an iPhone (the Meizu M8, HTC Touch Diamond, Google G1, etc). Companies have been trying the same thing for years with an iPod killer. This Palm seems to be a very decent handset outright and shouldn't need to be considered an iPhone killer. I'm sure it will have decent sales unless the smartphone industry collapses.
Ed Colligan says this device is better than the iPhone. I think he meant it has better hardware. Still, this Pre isn't anywhere's near production, so it's praise is rather Pre-mature. I'm sure it's has great potential, but only time will tell if it comes close to rivaling the iPhone in sales or popularity. Being that it's a slider with a keyboard already makes it more complicated to build than an iPhone. I think the Pre looks great and has nice hardware. You know it will run background apps, have copy/paste and video recording which is a given on any platform except the iPhone.
If this new OS is as good as they say it is then Palm will have some success. Palm will still have to keep customers satisfied if any problems arise. The iPhone may not have great hardware, but Apple does offer the whole package in terms of customer support.
The Pre is a potential iPhone killer as far as it's usefulness goes, but it will never come close to iPhone popularity and sales. Palm will just have to settle for the Pre to stop the company from going out of business.
