Samsung Armani Night Effect gets unboxed, ready to party
We're struggling to name a product that displays the Emporio Armani logo with the same unabashed flair as Samsung's Night Effect candybar, and that's totally okay -- after seeing the unboxing shots, we're not sure the world could handle any more dazzle than that provided by the bezel of this device alone. Yes, we admit, our reaction is totally conflicted between vomit-inducing disgust and "oooh, pretty lights," but the giant stylized eagle on the back of this thing seals the deal for us: we'll take our HSDPA candybars with less involvement from Milan, please.

why are these designer phones uglier than normal phones? isnt a designer phone supposed to be nicer and superior than the regular ones? so far the phones are subpar in terms of whats under the hood and the designs are FUGLY
Nadool @ Dec 29th 2008 9:06PM
Have you seen "designer" products at any point in the last 5 years or so? From women's purses to the huge bug-eye sunglasses...it's all just plastic, fake gold plating, fake leather, and a GIANT LOGO somewhere where everyone can see. Because if the logo wasn't absolutely the first thing you see, you would just say, "damn that shit is ugly!" Add a giant logo and now it's suddenly ok.
Society scares me to death.

Yes this thing is horribly tacky and boorish ,but I could understand if people would carry one around because they get payed for advertising the Armani brand.
But it seems that they expect people to pay to get the awful contraption.
It would be interesting to see how many dupes they can find and specially where they can be found.
Russia you say? Maybe.
I don't know but what I know for a fact is that no italian not even a milanese would be seen dead with a fashion branded cell phone (and they are the people with the highest cell phone to population ratio).
At least the old Armani touch screen phone was a decent phone, this one is just inexcusable.
Nadool @ Dec 29th 2008 9:10PM
Maybe not the ones in Italy but the ones in New Jersey would be all over this like a 2 for 1 sale on hair gel. Guarantee there will be at least 500 of these at the Jersey Shore on any given day this upcoming summer. Oh how I just love NOT going there every year. Gives me the douche-chills just thinking about it.
cl347bv @ Dec 30th 2008 3:48PM
Nadool,
I will let you know how many i see this summer. I live down the way from DJ's in Belmar.
Chris @ Dec 30th 2008 1:00PM
Although I like the lines, the branding is tacky - its for the label whores.
Kilgore/Nadool:
Yes I believe Italians (in both Italy and new jersey) will be sporting this thing. Have you ever been to Italy?? they wear some of the most funky, flashy, and obscure things Ive ever seen. (no offense to Italian style)
