Intel has a very strong presence in Oregon.  I'd imagine this has a lot to do with Portland being one of the first cities to get WiMax. Also don't expect wimax in Grand Rapids anytime soon, I know that since the begging Sprint and Clearwire have focused on Grand Rapids but with the lawsuits going on Sprint is ok selling 'Clear' as long as it isn't in iPCS areas, of which Grand Rapis is.  iPCS has said they wouldn't block the merger as long as no 'Clear' in iPCS markets.  Don't be suprised to see Grand Rapids put off instead of forcing another issue in the courts. A kid showed up at my door trying to sell me clear to replace my Comcast Broadband.  He let me hook it up to my computer and it pinged at 3819/kbs down and 498 up.
