Why not the possibility that all of this could be true, simply managed through the existing Danger organization? Isn't there the possibility that Microsoft acquired Danger with something like this in mind? The acquisition was announced in February, so at a development cycle of 12-18 months, that would take us to mid-2009. Branding and processors used can and could easily change. Multiple kinds of platforms -- branding-wise and processor-wise -- could be managed through this overall organization. I haven't a clue whether they actually will be, but all I'm saying is that all of that sounds eminently possible, in theory.

i agree, this is totally plausible. windows can make hardware and still sell their software to others. that wouldn't be shooting themselves in the foot. you never know, they could go the htc route and make phones (with winmo) and brand them at&t or verizon...
