This makes it easier to switch from a blackberry to a G1 (or even any other Android-based phone) later.
Speaking of Android, is this a sign that RIM might be considering abandoning its OS and going with Android and developing a blackberry connect software for Android for BIS and BES stuff?
Google and Blackberry are two entities that are trying to make their stuff as easy to use on their customers as possible.
I for one commend both parties making this an option. I was mentioning to my wife last night about the shortcomings of a blackberry that is connected to a BIS as opposed to a windows mobile device using wireless sync from VZW. Namely, wireless sync will sync both your contacts and calender information, a BB on a BIS only does email. Using this solution, you can sync almost everything that wireless sync does for you.
Thus with a software that is able to sync wirelessly from a blackberry to gmail (i.e. THIS software) you would be able to sync to the gmail account, then activate a G1 and sign in with the same gmail account (which is required for a G1 anyway) and *POOF* you're instantly connected to all of your information that was on your blackberry.
I wish this would have been available when I switched... it would have saved me about 2 hours in transferring everything over.

What?
How do you read that from the blog entry?

The inference is easy.
G1 is hardwired to a gmail account.
