White T-Mobile G1 not coming until after Thanksgiving?
Oh sure, a few remarkably lucky and / or well connected individuals out there are yapping it up on a white T-Mobile G1 right this very moment, but for the bulk of us, coming across one is basically impossible; in fact, the white G1 isn't even listed on T-Mobile's website currently. TMO News has it that the lightest hue of the HTC-built handset isn't expected to ship until at least the US Thanksgiving holiday, meaning that you've still got some serious time to kill before wrapping your paws around the increasingly enviable mobile. Rumors have been rampant that a paint chipping issue is at fault, and while we've yet to hear any confirmation of that, we have seen problems with white paint throw a wrench in the production plans of other mega-corps in the past. There's always the black G1 + Colorware if you're really impatient, you know.

Yeah, water cooler gossip at work tells me that it's not going to be out until early 09, but take that with a grain of salt. We'll see.

Engadget misinformation fail.
Colorware doesn't even offer paint jobs for the G1.
Frankenstein Black @ Nov 16th 2008 2:38PM
Not yet. I say give it a month or tow. Those Colorware dudes don't fool around ;^)...

In a month or two, you will likely be able to buy white ones... So Colorware is hardly a solution for the "really impatient", as the post suggests.

Yup, I contacted them a while back, and here's the response I received:
Dear Dan,
We currently do not have plans of adding the T-Mobile G1, however, we may sometime in the future. If I can be of further assistance please contact me. Have a nice day.

This is so ridiculous. Could it be possible they are holding back on the white phone until the hype dies down after the black/bronze ones? It's just unbelievable that these things are sold out everywhere and going for $400-$500 on ebay and tmobile cant seem to get any in stock ever since they were released? I'm not believing it, I think its more likely that tmobile is playing a supply and demand game.

Directly from the lips of a Tmobile salesperson, "The G1 isn't coming out in white until next year. They did the last testing on the paint this week and it's still chipping. More then likely they are going to make it a limited edition like they used to do with Sidekicks. (i.e. Dwayne Wade Edition)"

After seeing the phone in the local store, I concluded that this cheap looking plastic phone really belongs to Toys-R-Us.
It doesn't matter black, white or red, I ain't going to buy it.
ako1pinoy @ Nov 17th 2008 3:56PM
White G1 doesn't look cheap. And to be hones, people are not buying G1's for the looks. It's all about the capabilities.
babybo0x33 @ Nov 23rd 2008 4:06PM
I talked to a TMO rep 2 days ago and they said that they have the white G1 in stock but cannot sell it until November 24, which is TOMORROW!!!
