Nokia 5800 XpressMusic now listed at ?429 for Spain, up from ?279

Well, it looks like folks in Europe (or Spain, at least) already sold on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic could be in for a bit more than they bargained for, as the phone is now listed on Nokia.es for €429 (or just under $550) which, even given the now weaker Euro, is quite a leap from the €279 price for Europe that Nokia first announced just over a month ago. That still gets you an unlocked phone, however, and your choice of red, blue, or black colors, though it'll no doubt give some folks cause to reconsider the increasingly plentiful touchscreen phone options out there these days.

Whoa...too, too expensive.
$199 is the sweet spot for this one...initial software doesn't seem to be "up to snuff"...and reviews bear this out.
I really dig Symbian, but not at this price...I suppose a Storm will be my next acquisition, sorry Nokia!

Good luck getting an unlocked Storm for $199.

Just a guess, but I have a feeling that's the unlocked+CwM price. Locked+CwM and Unlocked-CwMprices should be closer to the original estimate given by Nokia.

these nokia shops are not operated by nokia, but by a third company. street prices usually are much lower
BoyBawang @ Nov 15th 2008 5:24AM
That price is not a price of a mid-end as nokia claimed it to be
fikhl @ Nov 15th 2008 5:44AM
but it's unlocked, good luck finding an unlocked phone (touchscreen) at this price...

One thing to keep in mind. Nokias store isn't kept by Nokia and the phones have always been hugely overpriced there. Second this phone got long waiting and just some countries are yet to going to get one. So the normal have to get it first Nokia customers are going to pay extra to be the first one. Unlike example Apple Nokia is sold every damn shop in Europe and Asia and there's really no one price. People on their own countries know where to buy their Nokias and that's never Nokias own shop btw. Exept if your buying for your company or just don't care or don't know better.
And those who don't have any idea here. That price is unlocked because for Nokia it wouldn't make sense to announce phone price for some carrier(s) when you are selling phones in every countrie in the world and who knows how many carriers got it. Plus big part of the world still buy phones unlocked especially in Europe and Asia again. Could be good idea in USA too so you get more contorl and competition for your carriers there.

Could be the the "Come with Music" version.. I see no sense in the pricing otherwise. Can someone confirm that this includes the CWM contract?

I see darkness in its path if it is really so.
But I guess the price won't be that high.
