Fido to revamp image, become more than a Rogers clone on Tuesday
Fido's experienced a bit of an identity crisis ever since being snatched up by GSM giant Rogers several years ago, struggling with product and pricing lineups that don't really project the quirky, young image that the brand's supposed to be all about. That might all change Tuesday, though, with rumors swirling that the carrier's poised to totally remake itself with new branding, a new, expanded hardware lineup, and lower fees. This might be largely in response to Telus' creation of the low-cost Koodo Mobile network, but also in preparation for an onslaught of competitors brought about by Canada's recent AWS auction. Either way, it sounds like it's probably good news for Canadian consumers looking for another (only?) source of budget GSM stuff.

I'v actually found in most cases that fido is a better deal than rogers, if you compare side by side they are very similar but fido tends to offer slightly more. Often giving either more minutes, giving you unlimited incoming (I don't believe this is on ANY rogers plan and yet is available on fido plans as little as $30), the value packs are (or were int he past at least) better with small differences often giving you the same as the more expensive rogers one, and they have always billed by the second (why has that not caught on more?).

Very interesting. Fido has always been known as the "hip" wireless provider while Rogers has a lot more options for business users. I'm going to the Fido q4 launch party tonight, and probably will hear more from them. If they introduce any unlimited voice plan or good data plans, i might just switch to a smart phone. Again, very interesting.

Why doesn't Fido still offer Blackberrys???? WHY NOT!?!??!! Oh god, why must you not let me live in peace!!!
Why can't Fido also offer Blackberrys and continue to screw me like all the other Canadian telecom providers?!?!
