Softbank introduces Sharp Aquos Fulltouch slider with quasi-XGA resolution
Just when we thought the Touch HD really packed the pixels in, Softbank and Sharp have announced the Aquos Fulltouch 931SH slider, which sports a wild 1024 x 480 3.8-inch touchscreen. That's almost the same res as most netbooks, for comparison -- we're not sure what all that pixel density is good for at this size, but we know we want it. Apart from the screen it's also a pretty solid Softbank 3G featurephone: browser, Bluetooth with A2DP, 5.2 megapixel camera with image stabilizer, accelerometer, 1seg TV tuner, and a media player with microSD expansion. Sure, sure -- but look at that screen, people. That's the stuff dreams are made of. Anyone up for a trip to Japan?

Okay, I'm probably going to get burned for this, but I swear the top portion of that phone looks just like my iPhone...except for the home button. Even the speaker grille is pretty similar.

No, that's about right... it really does look like a long iPhone until you slide it open. If you look closely at the left picture, it even seems to have a long slim button on the top right that looks just like the button on the top of the iPhone.

i usually hate "it looks like an iphone" posts but i kinda have to agree with u here. its the first thing i thought too. but it slides open! omg this is exactly what i have wanted since the iphone1 came out! as long as i could reprogram that useless yahoo button, i would soooooooooooooooooooo get this phone!

Yeah I thought it was a disproportionate picture of an iPhone too!

Wow. Some simple (and possibly incorrect) math says that's about 270 dpi. 300 is considered a relatively decent resolution for printed media. That's insane.

that is amazing. i like the iPhone, but i also like a physical keyboard. something like this could eventually be the answer to my problems. well as long as it uses the same type of touchscreen as the iPhone (capacative?).
