While many of you are still waiting for
T-Mobile's RC28 update to hit your G1, at least one reader has trumped us all. KoSoVaR is sitting on fresh, over-the-air software after receiving an update notice a few minutes ago. The process rebooted his G1 "a few times" only to stabilize at RC29. Hard to say what's new at this point but we'll get back to you if we hear about anything more than bug fixes.
P.S. For what it's worth, we're still kicking it old skool back at RC19 -- waiting... and waiting... for the automagic to begin.
Update: Another reader is up on RC29 now as well. Took 5 minutes start to finish and required a
single reboot. Snap of the update screens after the break.
[Thanks, KoSoVaR and David]

Is this a push-only aspect of the G1, or can users pull the update as an option?
Eric Sinclair @ Oct 28th 2008 8:02AM
It's push only - and it was pushed to my G1 overnight as well.

Will this update address the Email client issue? Email for your POP accounts DO NOT work at this point. It's a deal breaker for me and I might be returning otherwise a very promising device.

POP mail works fine for me.

I have a POP3 account up an running on my G1. For some reason setup for it failed when I was connected to wifi, but on EDGE it was successful, and now that it is setup it is running smoothly on both. Maybe you're having the same issue? Either way, it is something that should be fixed. I'm still waiting on my pushed update...

Pop?! why not use IMAP!?? IMAP works perfectly!!!

I'm still at RC19... They really should have a pull option.

I was the first person who got a G1 when my local store opened on 11/22 and still haven't even received RC28. Wasn't 11/23 the day they started to push it for pre-orders and 11/26 the day for us who bought at TMo stores?

Do you know who is responsible for the Over-The-Air update technology? is the update agent/client software available?

Mine just updated to rc29 as well... though the only difference I've noticed is that my browser is kinda laggy and unresponsive, though that could just be my connection. =/

I got the rc30 update and so far I am THRILLED! I of course noticed the USB mounting option with the rc29 update but now my HANDS-FREE in my lexus works with the phone and it didn’t before… This was a MAJOR deal-breaker for me and I was looking at the iPhone just minutes before… now I don’t know if I need to switch.
Just wanted to let people know about this update if they had the same bluetooth problem!
