Curious what the "world's thinnest" full QWERTY device (AT&T's words) looks like when it jumps off the PR documentation and into a slightly more real, less retouched environment? Well, here ya go (albeit in a color that won't be available at launch). We're told the
Pantech Slate feels "solid" and is expected to go on sale toward the end of the month at a sub-$50 price point -- forgoing 3G, yes, but who needs 3G to send a text message here and there?
[Thanks, Kal]

any phone with a screen 1/4 size of the phone, is useless in my books
kal @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:51AM
you people just don't get it....this is NOT a smart phone...NOT a multimedia phone...it's target demographic is 11-16 year olds (from the mouth of the pantech rep)....it is a PHONE with TEXTING....so for that purpose it is at least decent...
Neil @ Oct 23rd 2008 2:59AM
Agreed. I don't understand how anyone can compare this phone to the iPhone, Touch Diamond, etc. when those devices apart from being smartphones, also clearly cost a lot more.
pheer6224 @ Oct 25th 2008 1:46PM
I thought that thing ran winmo.

Oh yeah Surly, how much is your phone bill for all the useless crap that you Iphone does?
That is the problem with people these days, a lot of them bought into the concept that they must watch Youtube while in line at the supermarket. You fell right into Madison Avenue's hands.

Well I'm 45...not 16...and i like it so far. I hate talking, all i do is text and this lil phone is very nice for that. plus it's thin and weightless...i love it. battery life is very good. decent size screen...who cares about all te hoop-la 3g multimedia crap....this phone is an awesome phone for TEXTERS !!
Patrick @ Dec 27th 2008 9:42AM
I think it is one of the best phones out there they don't make them in that ugly silver they make them in shiny black and is very thin and has lots of features for texters
