It's official: BlackBerry Bold hits AT&T on November 4 for $299.99

The hopes and dreams for a "summer release" have long since faded, but at least AT&T's finally agreed to a hard date for the hotly-anticipated Bold: November 4. The news comes courtesy of the company's earnings call -- not the most obvious place to slip in news this big -- but at least it's coming straight from the horse's mouth.

Update: And the press release just slipped out, too -- $299.99 on a two-year contract. Yikes!

i currently have the iPhone and it sucks for email (when u manage multiple accts) my curve (8300) that the iPhone replaced was alot better. i find myself never using the youtube features, always emailing people/myself pics (no mms) and rarely doing music other than in my car...and based on verizons habit/problem of locking the gps on their berrys...i think ill pass the storm and go right to the bold, for me this phone should be perfect! i cant wait!

Some folks have got a hold of documents and manuals that show blackberry maps being used with GPS on the 9530 Storm... this leads many to believe that it is indeed unlocked. It's fair to be skeptical since this is VZW, but this is VERY promising.

I had pics from the commercial shoot for the Bold but lost them during a a re-reformat of my MicroSD. (idiot)

It was shot at the Armory in NYC back in September. Olympic theme, though I guess they might reboot the campaign since it's been a while since the games...

Further unrelated - for some of the lighting they used huge, cigar-shaped lighter-than-air apparati (sp.) with lights in them instead of all cranes. Really interesting.

Again, I had pics, but....(stupidstupidstupid).

$300 YIKES!!!!! might as well switch to an iPhone for a cheaper price. But who am I kidding I don't think I would be caught dead with such a device. So with the Bold costing $300 how much do you think the Storm is going to cost $400? Man oh Man RIM your killing us, what happened to staying competitive?

i gaurentee the price wont stay that high for long its just for people who have been waiting so long they will pay anything for it
and the fuze should be out at the same time for the same price thats a much better deal if you ask me

$300? Are you fucking kidding me? I think I might either go buy an iPhone or the HTC Dream and spend at least $100 less. Considering our economy is in shambles, I'm curious to see how this phone does on the market for $300 a pop.

I was hoping for $199 with a minimum 8Gb microSD bundled in. For $299 it better have a 16Gb microSD bundled in.

been using an unlocked one for 3 weeks and it is simply the best RIM handset eva!!! i've used pre-pearl, pearl, and curve RIM phones as well as the iphone and a variety of winmo phones and this one is just heads and shoulders above the rest (i am lucky to that my job allows me to switch phones every 3 months or so). email, messaging, im, texting perfection goes without saying, but the beautiful display, international compatibility, and something that usually goes under the radar...battery life and radio integration are superb on this thing. with my most of my winmo phones, i would usually get 1 full business day (7-6pm), with the iphone i would get a little more than that. with the bold, i have been getting 2 solid full days (7am to midnight x 2 days) with 3G on and 3 solid full days if i only enable 2.5G. and there is something to be said about RIM and their radio work. i haven't moved homes and work in the same place for the last 3 years and RIM reception and clarity is very noticable over winmo and especially iphone.

the irony is that apple fanboys have consistently said to the PC market for years and years that you get what you pay for when the complaints of why macs are more expensive than windows based PCs. this is no truer than in this case apple fans...YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR...the bold is heads and shoulders above the iphone. don't get mad because someone used your own tactics against you.

Guys who say they are going to go get an iPhone instead based on price....

We have 3 iphones in my family, one 2g and two 3g. Everyone in my family is waiting for the Bold because they hate their iphones. The iphone 3g system doesn't smoothly switch between networks and towers, and you are left with no carrier for minutes at a time. EVEN with 2.1 OS.

That coupled with the poor email tools for batch delete, and the copy past problem...CAN'T WAIT for another blackberry. Carried one for years. LOVE them.

Here's what I don't get, while I was in a Best Buy yesterday (Hartsdale, NY Location), they had the Bold on display for sale, available for purchase/activation without any words regarding pre-sale/pre-order aka it was available right then and there. I was in too much of a rush to ask any details but It did seem a bit odd that its Nov 4th on here, but its already (seemingly) available at Best Buy. Can anyone else shed some light on this?
