Verizon tours America with hands-on BlackBerry Storm events
Are you eager to get your paws around one of Verizon's much ballyhooed BlackBerry Storms? No, we mean are you really eager? If so, you can hit the read link (or just look at the image above, on second thought) and find the locale nearest you, pencil in a vacation day and get ready for the best few hours of your entire life. VZW will apparently be hitting the road in late October and into November in order to showcase its soon-to-be-flagship touchscreen phone, and it's even luring you harder with food and drinks on the house. Mmm, cookies and push e-mail.

This list seems to indicate that the Storm will not be released until some time after November 20th, given that that is the last date listed for a first-look. Am I wrong to assume this?

good point - although, they are hitting 4 locations on the 11th, so maybe that is significant?

Wasn't that around the same time they released the Voyager last year? Maybe Verizon has a thing for releasing must anticipated devices right before Thanksgiving,
snowenloe @ Oct 15th 2008 7:25PM
must=much
Fucking iPod touch

Yeah, but the talk has been that they were going to release it Nov. 2nd or 9th. That's why I am surprised to see such a far off date for the last hands on event- unless for some reason they plan on holding these events even after the release (you know, for those that can't figure the thing out on their own).

I'll bet they come out with it on the 9th, but to ThaiBruins' point, based upon the location, they're probably trying to drum up excitement for it in markets where they don't dominate post launch.
I hope.
Don't make me wait another month...
ThaiBruin @ Oct 15th 2008 5:30PM
Why aren't they going to cities like Los Angeles, New York or San Francisco? Do they think people in these cities will buy one without hesitation?
Graffitimonkie @ Oct 15th 2008 7:49PM
I think that major cities have pretty much got automatic demand for this new phone. Only thing is that I have seen many companies not buying the iPhone right away for their employees because their contracts have not run up yet, otherwise they're pretty open to buying their employees these new high tech gadgets, some of them who don't even need such fancy phones will be getting them.

I would guess that this is a midwest area only list and that there are probably similar events going on in different areas.

If this baby would be available in Europe i'd buy one tomorrow (now shops are closed).
Since a couple of days we can buy the HTC (diamond?) touch pro but I think I'll wait a bit more to see if the SE experia or the Samsung Omnia will show up within reasonable time.

I signed up for this, and got a confirmation email that stated that I had to register with my corporate email address to attend. So apparently this is for IT types only... sucks :(
wildkat @ Oct 21st 2008 10:25PM
the official release date for the storm is oct. 25th to order online, but nov. 2nd to upgrade in stores.....
