RIM shows employees that rich people use BlackBerrys, as if they care
Oh yeah, we know a certain dutiful crew in the R&D labs at RIM are toiling away on the BlackBerrys that we'll be swooning over in the years to come, but what winner took the time (and what champion instructed him / her?) to conjure up this PowerPoint slide? Reportedly, this here slide was used within the company to show just how awesome its handsets are, because clearly, if six rich people accept free phones well before the street date from you, that equates to stellar quality and usability. Oh, and just remember RIM -- we'll bet Motorola used to brag about all the superstars with RAZRs, too. See how far that got 'em?

Does tell their employees that the rich get thier blackberries for free and proably the service as well. I think at all of those award shows they get free gift bags loaded with alot of free stuff.I dont give a shit what the rih use. I give notice to what real people use like the BOY GENIUS and other Bloggers,.

Yeah, I'd use something too if it were given to me for free. If I were famous and given, lets say......a state of the art toilet, gratis....I'd gladly pose for pictures to promote the item while clearing my bowels.

I would think that the Blackberry is the first product on the market that regular people would buy anyway even if their famous celebrity stars didn't endorse it. But every little bit of publicity definitely helps.
Frankly I bought my first Blackberry because I wanted a phone to browse online during breaks in my school schedule it didn't matter that the Blackberry at the time was an exclusive business phone but the Pearl blended form and function for me, now I have a Curve and like I said I'd get another Blackberry any day even if my favorite rapper or actor doesn't own one.

Doesn't every company do these sort of slides?

I'm sure corporate users and politicians will really care that they share the same device as Lindsay Lohan.

the blackberry bold is rumored to have a Firecrotch color dropping in time to promote Lohan's next film

What's wrong with a company touting its success? Apple does it all the time with how many Macs and iPods they are selling.

I worked as a coop student at RIM. They have a team who handles giving away devices to various celebrities, television shows etc where it makes sense. They probably made the document. I'd be surprised if they were distributing this around though...more likely its just sitting in a shared folder somewhere and someone grabbed it.

I hope Michael Phelps knows not to take his BB into the pool!

Free is cool, but I'm sure the reason is more than valid for marketing. Now it seems BB's are everywhere.
My first BB T7100 in 2005 was the only set T-Mobile offered with 4G to handle service in Europe. Just upgraded to the Curve 8320, 4 months ago.
