Not even a fortnight after HTC's Touch HD
went official in Germany, out pops a review from Deutschland calling it the best thing since sliced bread. Okay, so maybe our translation skills are a bit off, but one thing's for sure -- it was hailed as the first "iPhone killer to deserve that name." Right off the bat, reviewers praised the TouchFLO 3D interface for masking Windows Mobile, and of course, the expansive display was drooled upon numerous times. Additionally, critics praised the Opera browser while scolding Internet Explorer, and while it's hard to say for certain whether the battery life was remarkable, it definitely seemed to get their vote of approval. Of note, the 3.5-millimeter headphone jack was also loved, making us weep while thinking of what
could have been with the T-Mobile G1. At any rate, it seems pretty clear that the Touch HD is going to rock some socks off, but we're trying to push it out of our minds until it becomes available on
this side of the drink. Too bad that approach isn't working at all.

If android comes in this kind of HTC set, I think there is a possibility of android to catch the market soon. The phone looks quite good. If steve ballmer seen this, he would not commented about android :)

This is one Blackstone that shines more than a Diamond!
In my phone history, I don't think I've ever anticipated a device as much as I do this! This is one device Apple isn't looking forward to land this side, it takes the all the building blocks the Apple 3G has and and slam dunks!!
Where do i sign up??

Yea I have to agree - minmo kills it for me on this device. Throw Android on there and you can sign me up for sure!

Now if HTC created the Touch HD Pro with a slideout qwerty keyboard, and shipped it with Android, could it be the perfect phone?
Well if they started selling larger pockets for trousers I suppose it would help, but still - films on the move? Lovely...

I've said it so many times before: HTC makes some of the best smart devices out there. This shows true innovation and a desire to become a dominant force in the market. I look forward to getting my touch pro when it comes out on AT&T. I even think the G1 would be nice phone to have if it wasn't butt ugly and locked into the worst service provider in NA.

Windows mobile is so off the track.
How can an Win Mobile phone ever be an iphone neither a blackbbery killer ?
flatfour @ Oct 7th 2008 8:32AM
I would hazard the opinion that they are coming at the market from a different angle - Windows Mobile (Pro) runs PDAs that can make phone calls, iPhone is a powerful user friendly feature phone that plays music (albeit with a large touchscreen) and Blackberry is for enterprise manageable mobile email.
Some folks like to install what they want and be happy to hard reset when it goes wrong, some want something to pick up and use with a familiar interface and some want to have a device they can give to their company staff that will (mostly) get them their email wherever they are.
I don't believe any version of WinMo will ever be an 'iPhone killer' - that will fall to Motorola or (most probably imho) Nokia.

Have you used the Touchflo interface? It's very slick and hides WinMo really well. Besides that, there isn't ANYTHING that wrong about WInMo. It works. Not only that it is FULLY customizeable right out of the box, without going to a software store. Not better than Blackberry? Do I really need to go there?

So far the iphone is the real lipstick on a pig. Looks pretty and flashy but what apps are really good? That and 240mb thats a pig for sure. It never fails cockroches come out right away trashing WinMo. This device has plenty of power and probably run WinMo great. WinMo has the apps and a lot of great ones thats the diffence. Android has a lot better chance of catching up than iphone will. Anyway your probably shills working for apple anyway.
