This phone looks Queer and very bulky what type of UI Is it. It looks like it could be an Andriod UI unless its preproduction software? Any way it looks huge
Riley Freeman @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:49AM
seriously that thing is FUGLY. it looks thick as hell. it looks like something that belongs on the bat belt
markcobra @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:53AM
I wonder what that phone is right next to it...Samsung slider (i620)? with qwerty it looks like. Maybe somethingelse? Decent specs for the knick.
Riley Freeman @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:00AM
the new samsung i776
justin @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:04AM
that is a horrible name
ians @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:10AM
The samsung to the left is an i620....and if this is an AT&T phone, why is there no branding?
I am thinking they may carry some unlocked phones, to compete with Best Buy and other stores foray into the unlocked market.
and that thing is hideous.
zephxiii @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:22AM
The image posted on this page is cropped, if you view the full rez image, there is a big ol "at&t" badge at the top of the phone.
Razor1973 @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:31AM
Is it me or the two buttons on the bottom left corner are blanks?
Riley Freeman @ Sep 22nd 2008 10:38AM

TareX @ Sep 22nd 2008 11:38AM
Huge. Bulky. Old.
I mean get a VAIO UMPC instead and have a fully functional UMPC.

is that winMo? its already better than the sidekick, but that winmo is poop. GPS? TV? isnt that was sidekickers have been waiting.. Ha.

Look at the phone to the left! AT&T branding, looks like it has mobile TV too... it's great to see some more devices across AT&T's board with this feature. And I'm not so sure it's an i620.. it looks cheaper, and I think the soft keys below the screen are tactile, not touch-sensitive.
And to answer Razor1973's question, none of the keys on the phone are blank. If you would finish reading the post and take a look at the press shot directly below the picture, you can see what each key has on it. It's easy to mistake the keys for blank, though, because in direct light, the white arrows and other symbols on the keys seem to disapear.
Hmm... UT Starcom... can i haz backlit keys plz?

Also:
10 bucks the phone to the left is the BlackJack III
Derek @ Sep 22nd 2008 2:26PM
I'll bet you $50 that it's not.
Jonny B @ Sep 22nd 2008 1:51PM
That's def. not the BJ3. That phone is a qwerty slider. well, at least it looks like it.
The BJ3 is more or less the same size as the BJ2, but it has touch screen with a stylus.
I dont know what this phone is, but it looks just as ugly and huge as the rest of the sidekicks,
and knock offs.
I am most def. more curious about that samsung.

there you go jack. that's the good ol' boy genius report on the bj3

What'll be funny is when AT&T decides to consider it a PDA and charge $30/month for data (not including MMS/SMS) on this thing. If they do, it'll lose to the Sidekick in no time:
- it will cost more per month to have data on this thing, add in that you'd probably have to have a voice plan too (otherwise, it'll cost a ton more per month than the currently possible data-plan-only Sidekick)
- you don't need a contract on the Sidekick (which is a big deal for the apparent target groups) and still costs, at least online, for the same price as the expected price on this one w/ contract (the looks of it being $199 with 2-yr contract, according to the survey).
Jack @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:16PM
wow guys... i was just putting in some banter. I too read BGR and Engadget Mobile religiously every day too, I get that it's not ACTUALLY the blackjack III, but i was suggesting food for thought... chill lol
and the Sidekick, fyi, is 30 bucks a month for the unlimited data plan, it's only 20 if you sign up for a 2 yr. voice plan as well, not pay as you go.

seems like there is something here....anybody see the relation?
Jonny B @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:39AM
could that pantech be the duo2? i think it may just be.
and jack, dont take it like people are yelling at you or something. just pointing things out.
why is that if you type a response people think you are trash talking?
what should we do? include these smilies each sentence?
Jack @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:22PM
haha it's kinda hard to miss....
Luke @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:27PM
Hah....this stuff is old news...good thing the thing it competes with (sidekick slide) has already been improved..plain ole sidekick. http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/05/29/survey-reveals-some-potential-new-devices-for-atandt/
