T-Mobile G1 (or whatever it's called) takes in some fresh air
Why wait for next Tuesday's grand unveiling? Well, the short answer is that most of us have no other option -- but a small handful of exceptionally lucky individuals are getting their Android on just a little early. This particular example of the G1 (or Dream, Nightmare, Slumber, whatever the hell it's going to end up being called) allegedly hails from a Google staffer, looking a little less... shall we say, "controversial" than other shots have made it out to be. Yeah, we're jealous, we admit. Anyone want to give theirs up for a few hours?

Absolutely, positively, unequivocally the most beautiful, fresh-faced, candy-coated high-gloss, ultra-sleek, mega cool fabulouso wireless phone to ever, ever be photographed in the wild.
epoch @ Sep 19th 2008 1:25PM
I agree. I'd still prefer it in black, but the toy-like white appearance is growing on me.
Looks like T-Mobile has got my money (leaving AT&T for this phone, sick of proprietary systems and locked down features)
MBN @ Sep 19th 2008 3:24PM
Put me down for a black one. I don't want Fisher Price calling me, wanting their phone back.
Dax @ Sep 19th 2008 4:45PM
God, you have GOT to be joking.
Galen20K @ Sep 19th 2008 1:29PM

Cant wait!
But still got what.. another month almost before I can get my hands on it!?
Adam @ Sep 19th 2008 1:33PM
Want!
I hope I don't have to wait in lines outside the store like those iPhone toolbags. Should I plan on ordering this online?
frank @ Sep 19th 2008 1:41PM
Been wondering the same thing. Carriers need to start doing a pre-order ticketing kinda thing. You pick a local store when you order, bring your printed receipt to the store and then go straight to the special VIP line, then walk away gloating. Shit, I'd pay extra for that.
maikel @ Sep 19th 2008 2:13PM
OMG!! This phone looks like so much like a Sidekick. Obviously HTC saves the best design for their own phones
.I'll pass..next.

The real questions is when is T-Mobile 3G coming to St. Louis? My contract is up next Tuesday. Perfect timing for G1!!
rigo @ Sep 19th 2008 2:24PM
i really don't see what is so special about this phone.. i still like the sprint touch pro way better than this phone.
plus the typing looks uncomfortable because of the shape of the keyboard and phone overall .. the shape is awkward
Galen20K @ Sep 19th 2008 2:31PM
Well I think the Touch Pro is Awkward to type on and it just feels cheap in the hand compared to Xperia X1 and HTC Dream G1, so yeah I PASSED on the Touch Pro.
Thank GOd!!!!
plh2034 @ Sep 19th 2008 2:58PM
I was definately buying this phone and leaving Sprint to get it.
Now i hear that Sprint will release their 1st Android phone in December and i may not need to switch carriers.
I'm torn
Nal @ Sep 19th 2008 4:29PM
Really? Me too then.. maybe. It depends how much it is and if Sprint will give me a discount.
Nal @ Sep 19th 2008 4:23PM
I can't wait to get this phone! AH. For some reason, eventhough we've seen sliding and touch + physical keyboards, I still think it's design is quite unique, add that with Android features? Woah. I prefer physical keyboards over virtual keyboards any day (at least for now). If I were to get this phone I have no doubt I will regret it like I did with the Samsung Instink.
chibi @ Sep 19th 2008 5:55PM
First you said G1's name stinks here: http://www.engadget.com/2008/09/19/g1-appears-on-t-mobiles-site/
And now you are a total lover for it.
What the hell is wrong with these people?
Shane @ Sep 19th 2008 6:11PM
btw nal... are you nalshadat? as in originally from walker
either way
i'm in total agreeance with you.
even partial keyboards with smart typing as in 7100 series blackberries that had 2 letters per button can't compete with full keyboards.

My Treo is already hiding under my bed.

I don't joke...well there is that platypus thing, but beyond that.
kevino @ Sep 25th 2008 12:19AM
With all of this color talk, I don't see anyone saying that they want this in brown. Does that mean I will have to get brown just to be different? I hope it's more of a dark chocolate brown than a milk chocolate brown. With orange buttons!
Galen20K @ Sep 20th 2008 9:04AM
Dark Brown with ORange Buttons would be teh SWeetest!!!
I'd Buy that in a HEartBeat!!!
I have the Original Brown and Green ZUne *HOTTNESS***

This phone looks like a Side Kick with a left side screen. I'd personally wait until its in stores and see it in person if I'd want it, or when the HTC Touch HD comes to Sprint with Android. While I agree android might be all great and all, what's not great is its involved with Google. Google is like Big Brother, its a profile on you where ever you are and go. Check out this article on Gizmodo.
