Lining up nicely with
most (but not
all) of what we've been hearing, the Wall Street Journal is spouting off about some "people familiar with the matter" who are claiming that the Android-christening
Dream will go on sale late in the month of October. What's more, these same folks say that we can expect a formal announcement about the worst kept secret in Seattle on September 23, though exact pricing is yet to be determined. That would leave about a month for anticipation -- "Dream Fever," if you will -- to build to a nice, rolling boil, which is important considering rumors that HTC looks to push somewhere between 600,000 and 700,000 Dreams before the year's out. Assuming the sticker shock is kept to a minimum, there's only one question left to be answered:
white, black, or brown?

Getting closer and closer to launch. Hope there's some chance to get this lovely phone without a contract.

I still dont understand how THIS device won the votes of the OHA... When they talked about how designs were voted on, that hyped me up for how the dream would look, what a disappointment.
I wonder though, maybe once android is officially out, does anyone think HTC would officially support Android OS conversions for their other phones? A diamond on android would be perfect...

I've got to agree with you there. If this phone flops, Part of the reason is because the phone is so goddamn ugly. It looks like it was designed from a function aspect only.
I'm terribly excited about Android, but the design of this phone makes it really hard to stay enthusiastic.

Tell me about it. T-Mobile's ugly stick keeps getting bigger. I think the *real* question is whether it will be that heinous in person. Maybe black will make it doable.

You guys keep forgetting that this picture is most likely NOT the final design, how about you keep your critical Opinions until the device is ACTUALLY released instead of talking about this picture as if it was REALLY the final design. WHich I am sure its not. Just a reference device.
OH ye of Little Faith, WAKE UP!!!

Black baby, black. I hope this comes with myFavs (actually, I Dont care) but mostly, I hope it comes with UMA/Tmo @home service. This would be GREAT, and really leverage what tmobile has been doing with their wifi equipped headsets. I am looking forward to this, and selling my IP3G in the interrem.

Whoah whoah whoah... Pictures of handsets by RIM and HTC leaked MONTHS ago have been spot-on accurate. The Kickstart is nearly identical to shots posted on BGR in May. The Diamond was leaked forever ago and (at least for the unlocked version) the pics were dead on. This current photo is relatively fresh; it was posted on this very site for the first time just over two weeks ago (Aug 30th). Also keep in mind that, assuming of course that the photo above isn't faked, it has a carrier logo stamped on it. Manufacturers don't put carrier logos on early concept devices. Finally, compare it to the FCC diagrams and the shape fits exactly. How much do you think this is going to change between now and the end of October?
If we further take into account the fact that T-Mobile has a history of uglifying devices with weird color schemes, I don't think it's a stretch of the imagination to assume that this is going to be one ugly ass phone.
Nippero @ Sep 16th 2008 4:13PM
I was just about to say that, this is pretty much the final product. The FCC papers just prove it.
Although I too am hoping that the black version will look much nicer.
