Sprint's Touch Diamond, now available
Like they said they would, Sprint just spun the HTC Touch Diamond out for retail. $250 (after $200 instant savings, $100 mail-in rebate, and 2-year contract) takes home this WinMo 6.1 candybar with HTC's TouchFLO 3D salve layered atop a 2.8-inch touch-screen display, 4GB of memory, WiFi, 3.2 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, GPS, and EV-DO Rev. A. The tough decision is buy now, wait for Sprint's Touch Pro launching on October 19th, or hold-out for Best Buy to get its act together and put the $700 unlocked 3G Touch Diamond out onto store shelves.

jojomexi @ Sep 14th 2008 3:41AM
i like the diamond/pro both, and as much as its killing me, i will be waiting for the pro :). none-the-less these two phones are HOT
JSS @ Sep 14th 2008 3:58AM
nice!!!
do you think this should be available in stores today?... i'll try to buy one of this tomorrow at 11 a.m. when every sprint store opens here in downtown L.A.
or i should go ahead and order online?
mphayvanh @ Sep 14th 2008 4:53AM
Well if you order online it comes with free activation and free shipping. New to Sprint so..anyone know if the SERO plan is still avilable?!
DssTrainer @ Sep 14th 2008 9:31AM
SERO as it was is NOT. The new Sprint Employee Plan is in effect now. $60 for 500 min, and unlimited everything else plus Navigation. I'll be hanging on to my $30 SERO plan as long as I can :P
SRS Rep @ Sep 14th 2008 12:32PM
The Touch Diamond will not be available in stores (besides Direct Ship) until Early October. What this means is, unless your a new activation, the best way of getting a Touch Diamond is going to be Websales or Telesales.

why does the Diamond version on htc's website look so much different than the Sprint version fo the Diamond? The Sprint's version has rounded edges and no camera in front
boolean22 @ Sep 14th 2008 7:30PM
This is the CDMA version of the phone, thus is rounded and Diamond-less back cover.
It has a nice finish tho. Hate the Manila customization chosen.

Touch Diamond : Sprint = Pearls : Swine

Truer words were never said:
Diamond:Sprint = Pearls:swine

I was a bit mad that I couldn't buy one of these at a store today, so I had a bit of a war with a Sprint CSR, who gave me an additional $50 off for buying (and activating online.) The phone is shipped with overnight shipping so it should be here within 2 days. The retail price on the phone is $549.99; activation is free when you order online ($36) and plus the other $50 means that my overall order, even with the "Simply Everything" unlimited plan, came out to less than the retail price of the phone.
Regular price $549.99
Simply Everything + insurance coverage $107.99
Instant savings -$200.00
Mail-in Rebate -$100.00
CSR Invoice Rebate -$50.00
Activation = free ($36 otherwise)
New price $307.98 with first months' unlimited service, after mail-in rebates
Not half bad. Talk to some Sprint reps online and save yourself another $50.
Brad @ Sep 15th 2008 12:52AM
I went to sprint store today and the rep told me they wouldn't have a display model for at least a month! I'm no waiting another month so I went ahead and ordered online, if you don't like it you always have 30 days to return it anyhow. I do miss the Diamond backing, but as a touch screen this thing is already a big enough fingerprint magnet, with the original backing it would have been a mess.
Nick @ Sep 15th 2008 2:23AM
I went into the Sprint store today to pick one up and they told me that they were supposed to be getting them in stock by mid-week but I went ahead and ordered mine through telesales.

when is this phone coming to verizon????
ThatGuy @ Sep 15th 2008 8:21AM
Who cares when its coming to verizon, their model is going to be so crippled. Not buying it when it does come out for them will be the best move to show that their practice is unaccepable. I'll be going with Sprint for a Touch Diamond.
Chris @ Sep 15th 2008 7:31PM
Of course...go to Sprint's site, and no mention of the device. Anyone see a Sprint commercial about this device? Other than these sites devoted to phones, anyone seen anything about this device? What's with Sprint's marketing dept?
Zale @ Sep 17th 2008 2:47PM
For those of you who asked "when will this come to Verizon?"
The answer is: July 17 2017. Because they "have to test it out for quality first".
(That is the biggest Verizon excuse for being late on the phone market. They don't know how to negotiate with the Asian phone manufacturers, so they use this excuse. The interesting thing is, Verizon never turned down a phone.)
