Nokia is known for not having such capability (N-Gage anybody?), but we're going to see a lot of these touchscreen phones from Nokia in the coming months and years so they're probably going to own that segment as well with just pure volume. Or are they? Only time will tell and it all depends on the interface.

The way I see it is that Apple stole the spotlight with the touchscreen interface and from now on it's going to be more and more about the services, in which Apple has some serious know-how. Millions of sold applications in a few weeks. Nokia has had its corresponding service for like five years or more but nothing anywhere near this magnitude. Not even close. As usual Apple transformed the market to fit it's own strengths, something other companies struggle to do in such magnificent manner.

But all this applies only in the high-end/touchscreen sector of the market. The rest is Nokia vs everyone else.

I'd like to see Nokia making something completely new and not necessarily involving the usual series of same looking cellphones... Too bad it's not going to happen. Besides what could it be? I have no idea but there has to be something groundbreaking right around the corner. Who gets to it first? But even if Nokia could figure out something new they would just mess it up, like they always do. It's sad.

papari

Comments on Nokia 5800 "Tube" rolling into Britannia next month?

Yeah, poor them. How about 5310 or 6500 classic. For many Americans here as example Engadget talks mostly about these N and E series phones of course they are rather large as they pack so much more. When it comes to mid or low end phones with smaller cameras(2mp or 3.2mp) Nokia makes many cases thinner phones than others.

5800XpressMusic wont be that thin thought. It's supposed to be 14mm. That's same as V3 RAZR to all Americans out here ;)

Zip
