You know that
unlocked HTC Touch Diamond advertised at Best Buy? Well, we just received word from the inside that it does, indeed, carry US 3G. At least that's the obvious assumption given the HTCTOUCHDIA model and IAMOND UNLKD 3G description shown in Best Buy's
all too familiar RSS feed. $700, and "coming soon" -- you ready?

$700 - I'll pass.

I think HTC may have a huge factor in that pricing. Unfortunately for Best Buy the price stance for "new cutting edge" WinMo devices(released by HTC) always seems to hover around that 700$ price mark. I agree it's too high but it is what it is unfortunately. If it were to have been listed at lets say $499 there would be an uproar from the community kind of like how Apple dropped the price of the iPhone so soon. I don't think BB will sell that many. I may even pass at 700$. You can pick up a non US 3G one for 599$ at phonesource-usa.com right now. And I don't think BB will ever lower the price either. Dilema.

700 dollars? I'd rather put my genitalia in a blender than pay that....

Great news. Hopefully this lights a candle under Sprint's ass to release their version already. Although bad news for those of us hoping for a huge sale at some point on Sprint's Diamond at BestBuy, considering it'll be up against the GSM unlocked for $700..

i talk to a sprint rep today and she said the touch diamond will be out on the sep.14

WAY too pricey. I would never consider paying that much for a phone. If you're paying that much, you are likely going to keep it for more than 2 years anyway, so why not just sign a contract and get it for $500 less...

The cash is under my mattress, ready to go.
bangbang023 @ Sep 9th 2008 2:35PM
It's not an RSS feed. It's R.S.S. (Retek Stock System).
Strike4 @ Sep 9th 2008 6:58PM
Haha. Do they really expect people to pay that much for a phone? Why get a phone that will be outdated by next year when you can get a pretty nice HDTV for that price.
HTC needs to get a reality check.

It's kind of odd that they're putting the unlocked version in stores when AT&T is getting the Touch Pro and Sprint and Verizon are getting the Raphael in a month or two.
Jon Lam @ Sep 9th 2008 9:20PM
Maybe because no one is releasing a GSM Touch Diamond.
Michael S @ Sep 9th 2008 10:42PM
Last I checked AT&T was a GSM carrier.
Madison @ Sep 10th 2008 12:48AM
AT&T will have the Touch Pro (ala FUZE) not the Touch Diamond...
RC @ Sep 17th 2008 2:34PM
PhoneArena says that AT&T is getting the Pro and the Diamond.
John @ Sep 9th 2008 11:15PM
That kind of pricing would make sense if there was more than 1 3G carrier that used the bands the device did in GSM. Just get it subsidized.. but at&t wouldnt want this phone causing any issues with their iphone sales would they.
