Rogers BlackBerry Kickstart 8220 gets priced?

Somebody has let the BlackBerry out of the bag chez Rogers, as we're now seeing alleged marketing material for the flippable Kickstart 8220 spinning its way on to the internet. As this ad proclaims, the Kickstart 8220 will be listed at $149 on a minimum $35 plan if you sign a three year stint. No word on if Rogers will have other plans, deals, or rebates, but we suspect if you're willing to throw more loonies their way, you'll be able to pick this up on a shorter term. Of course, if a flippin' BlackBerry isn't your thing, the recently launched BlackBerry Bold might fit the bill, though, that bill will be for at least a couple "brownies" more.

Interesting how they're keeping the Pearl name to it though its a different style.

I'm wondering how much T-Mobile will charge. Of course, I don't care too much because I'm pre-ordering the G1 as soon as possible!

I would love to see this device on sprint and also come with their rev a PTT service. I think that this is a device that would do very well in that market. There are actually construction workers that need access to email and web service. believe it or not.

You keep refering to it as the Kickstart, but they call it the Pearl in the ad.
Whatever the name, it's ugly and I'll pass. I've got a Curve on T-Mobile and I'm addicted to it. Would I love a protective flip-type cover? Probably wouldn't hurt, but QWERTY is the only way to text.

Dang that is an ugly phone

What's up with Rogers being the first carrier in NA to get new BlackBerries as of late?
Tom @ Aug 29th 2008 12:08PM
RIM is based out of waterloo, ontario. So it makes a little sense for them to go to the big canadian carrier first.
Also, I was at a convention and I asked a blackberry rep about the kickstart and he seemed pretty offended and assured me the name was the pearl 8220 NOT the kickstart.
The phone does look ugly, but I'll have to play around with it first before making any real judgment.

I think it's a VERY sleek looking flip, but, apparently, not many share my opinion.

Rogers also scored the N95 first in NA

I'm with Razor, I think it's totally bad ass and it looks like Rogers is once again going to have the better color option. The picture makes it look like it'll be a basic black/silver affair, as opposed to the hideous burgundy that T-Mo's doing. This will most likely be my next phone but I would seriously consider paying the premium for an unlocked model if it doesn't come in T-Mobile's retarded flavor of the month.
