We've been slipped a handy little document that indicates the dates that Sprint is currently targeting for the release of a few of its fall hotties, and although we already knew some of this stuff, it's always good to have some corroborating evidence in these situations. First up, the
Motorola Renegade V950, i365, and Samsung M220 and M320 are all still apparently locked for September 2, as is the
Touch Diamond. We've heard a groundswell of concern from tipsters that the Touch Diamond may have been bumped out to October -- it certainly wouldn't surprise us, given our jaded, overwhelmingly pessimistic personalities -- but here's hoping, anyway. It also looks like the just-released
Katana Eclipse in silver will be getting pink and black siblings come October 16, along with an "LG LX600 Messaging Handset." We're not sure what the LX600 might be beyond what a
confidentiality-bound FCC filing tells us, but the
Rumor is getting a little long in the tooth, so it could conceivably be replacement device or a slightly higher-end QWERTY set that would sit somewhere above the Rumor in the lineup.

does anyone know how feasible the sept 2 release date is for the diamond. Seems to me that if sprint was seriously conisidering this date they would have some heavy advertising going on right now.
mphayvanh @ Aug 25th 2008 1:08PM
Not likely. I'm in Marketing and there's no way it's releasing in a week and there's no marketing ahead of it. Look at the Instinct and how they advertised that phone weeks before the release. Sprint's marketing is either stupid or the phone is coming out in October.
I'm hoping Sept 2 so that the Pro will follow in October.
brandon smith @ Aug 25th 2008 3:25PM
Yes to Sept 2. Was pushed to October then pushed back.
FYI, phones over $149.99 don't get marketing money from Sprint.
mercado79 @ Aug 26th 2008 12:47AM
It's not surprising that we haven't seen any marketing as of yet. Sprint's primary focus has been and continues to be the Instinct. They're unlikely to promote the Diamond just yet so as to avoid cannibalizing Instinct sales.

So it is now 100% confirmed that the Touch Diamond will be in all sprint stores for a Sept 2nd launch?? If so I can not wait to be there on the 2nd to finally get a sprint phone worth something!
Bryan Burroughs @ Aug 25th 2008 12:52PM
I wonder when that was printed...2 weeks ago...4 weeks ago.
If it is older than a week old, it is still possible that the 09-02-08 date might not be hit.

It's not that bad once you see it in person. FYI, not the replacement of the rumor.
projekt84 @ Aug 25th 2008 2:37PM
if sprint pushes the touch diamond back to october i'm going t-mobile and getting the dream.
I HOPE YOU'RE READING THIS SPRINT.
dirt @ Aug 25th 2008 5:30PM
It's not like T-mobile ever puts a phone out on time either. They were more than a month late with the Pearl 8120
Ray @ Aug 26th 2008 1:09AM
Only if these phone companies were like asus. They'd release them not only on time, but ahead of time... with several different versions that only had one or two distinct changes...
Then again *shutters*, i couldnt imagine there being a touch diamond with qvga, 264mb ram, and a 624mhz processor and another one that vga 64mb ram, and 400mhz processor
Insider @ Aug 26th 2008 5:53PM
THAT IS LG LX570 MUZIQ REPLACEMENT NOT RUMOR REPLACEMENT... YET
phonedude-m @ Aug 26th 2008 7:06PM
October 16 for the black Katana? Are we sure on this? I was hoping sooner....haha
