Third-party clipboard framework for iPhone in the works
Developers are mad as hell about the copy / paste situation on the iPhone, and they're not gonna take it anymore. Despite rumblings of the long-overdue feature making an appearance in version 2.1, a grass-roots effort has been started in the form of OpenClip.org to implement a totally independent, third-party clipboard solution that apparently manages to remain entirely within the bounds of Apple's airtight SDK agreement that significantly limits what App Store apps can and cannot do. Some eleven apps are already listed as having pledged support for the OpenClip standard, which will inevitably be wiped out if Apple decides to do something official -- which, let's be real, should've happened ages ago. Follow the break for a video demo of OpenClip in action.

A step in the right direction for those of us who complain about lack of this feature. Actually it has been my main complaint, that and mms.

first of all, im sure apple will release it with 2.1, if they dont im going to be pretty pissed at them. and thats saying a lot from me.
next, i have a question, can mms be added by changing software, or will it have to wait until the next hardware upgrade?
and, if it is hardware, how come we can jailbreak and mms?
thanks in advance for an answer!

Its 2008.. and this girl is about to have an orgasm over.. copy and paste??
I-phone Is I-sexaayy @ Aug 24th 2008 5:27PM
copy/paste is the only thing keeping iphone from being a computer, as soon as its added, it will be the best mobile computer

I believe you forgot multitasking. See, MY phone can run multiple programs at once and can share information, explore the files on it, etc. The iPhone can only run 1 at once and is otherwise locked down with a tight SDK.

Regarding jailbreaking:
- How far can I modify jailbroken iPhone?
- Can I still buy apps through iTunes with jPhone?
- What are the cons of jailbreaking (other than losing warranty)?
- Where can I read more about it (plz, no google.com)?
Cheers

Out-of-store iPhone is pretty useless to me, however, I would do a lot to have its browser & screen. That's why I'm asking. But your answer delivers what I expected, more or less. Thx for proving my point. I'd rather stick to helpful BB community than "iphonez is teh bestest" wankers. Cheers!
