Snippets materialize from Sprint's user manual for Touch Diamond
The bad news is that it looks like Sprint mucked a bit with the Touch Diamond's stellar trademark interface; the good news, though, is that they don't seem to have mucked with it much. A handful of pages from Sprint's upcoming headliner HTC release have leaked onto the web, showing Sprint Music Store integration with TouchFLO 3D, a dedicated Sprint TV tab, and automatic screen orientation, among other gems. Now all you've got to do is release the actual phone and we'll be all set -- right, Sprint? Right?

im really on the fence with this phone. i think im going to stick it through and wait for the keyboarded touch pro.. also cnet said the touch flo 3D interface was a little slow... hopefully this will be fixed a little with the touch pro's increased RAM.

I love that huge icon for the Sprint Music Store.
Seriously, though... I wonder if you can flash the phone with a ROM from an unaltered phone.
Gamer90 @ Aug 22nd 2008 5:28PM
The icon is big because it is the icon selected, this happens to every icon you choose to go to it's screen. smh

I was under the impression that the new and updated ROM fixed the sluggishness of Touch Flo.
However, this video of problems does make me a bit nervous.

The *whole* manual, not just "snippets" was posted at ppcgeeks.com yesterday and we ran the story last night:

Thank you. Most reviews complaining about sluggishness were from the release rom of the device.. There have been reviews of the new ROM that specifically targeted this issue and they have been favorable. I'm guessing Cnet reviewed the phone with the release also and speaking for me only, I never really listen to cnet's cell phone reviews anyway. They usually differ completely from users.

I can't believe the biggest thing they got from the manual was the "enhanced" TouchFLO 3D. The biggest news in that manual is MMS out of the box!!

I recently sold my Diamond (gsm version) as it was just plain slow. I was an AT&T Tilt user for about a year and was excited to get my hands on the Diamond and the flash TF3D. Boy was I disappointed, the interface was soooo slow.
I quickly hardspl'd my phone and downloaded/flashed every available rom from xda developers. The TF3D interface did speed up quite a bit but was still a little sluggish. When TF3D is turned off, the phone flies. The phone is extremely fast, it made my 400mhz crippled video Tilt look 5 years old in performance. The screen is amazing, it makes my iphone's screen look grainy. The call quality of the Diamond was the same as the Tilt, which is crystal clear.
The onscreen keyboard is very poor. Sluggish and hard to use in comparison to the iphones.
I think the Diamond is a great phone. If I needed a business orientated phone I would wait for the xperia or the Touch Pro. The diamond is just not ready for prime time. But if you are a current HTC Touch owner, you will find this phone an amazing upgrade (which it is). The camera takes amazing pics.
In the end, I sold the Tilt and Diamond and kept the 2g iphone. Texting and ease of use are the most important function of a phone for me. I look forwards to seeing the Touch Pro and xperia release.

The Diamond Sprint is selling has a faster processor than the GSM version.

what happened to the engadget article that said the touch diamond was coming out on 8/28. it was posted last night and i read it and posted a comment, but this morning it seems to have disappeared. where'd it go?
flippykippy @ Sep 4th 2008 1:18AM
Nobody seems to be able to answer this for me. Does the Touch Diamond/pro for sprint have wifi or not?
Robyy Acosta @ Sep 11th 2008 9:29PM
Yes it will have wifi but you really dont need it that much if you are in EDVO Rev A Coverage.
