Got any tips for Nokia's E71?

It looks so obvious but there is something about that mass at the bottom that irks me. Almost looks like it's giving birth to something. Seems out-of-place.

That space is provided to allow thumbs to fully reach and use the lowest row of keys while holding the sides of the phone. As opposed to what a Treo does, for instance, which is to place the keys within about .200" of the phone's bottom, making it challenging (at best) to move through the keyboard without restriction. The real difference is between adult men who use their QWERTY phone for serious email communications and those who primarily fire off quickie emails/text messages. Using a Treo-like QWERTY for anything more than a couple sentences is a pain which is counterproductive to business.

First, the black one is better (nicer looking). Second, better email support (no HTML), an efficient email push service. Better reception.

Improve the camera performance. Update the OS. Upgrade the multimedia experience.

Oooooo, the E71. I would make it CDMA, carried by Sprint, so I could actually own one. That phone is awesome.

I have to agree with roach, turn it into an iPhone. I just don't see the point of any other phone existing. Although, this phone is quite sexy for a Nokia.

Press T to autofocus the camera. Lol, I didn't know that for a few days after i got the phone. Was too confused that AF was written at the back but didn't show on the screen that it was autofocusing.

I really like the phone. I had the E61 and E61i. The E71 is an excellent progression in the development of the E Series. However, there are two features missing in the E71 that were offered in the E61i, which I would like to see added in an update: access point groups and yahoo mail pop support (the wizard defaults to imap).

Its a beautiful device and the keyboard is a major improvement.

No roach, lets not turn it into an iPhone. What they need to do is come out with an E81 with a similar design as the E71 but 6 mm wider to allow for more space on the keypad and to allow for the bigger screen. As for the E71 FP2 would be nice to see on it, as well as more email support. I'd also like to see stereo speakers on it and carl zeiss optics on the camera. Change the color of the red power button to black. 512 MB on board memory with a more powerful processor. Oh yea, and a 3.5mm headphone jack would have been nice.

I have the Nokia E70 and use Pocket Express. I think Pocket Express is rocking, so I would add Pocket Express to the Nokia E71 list of pre-installed software.

Yes Pocket Express provides one of the best free diversified mobile platforms out there. If not the best.

The range of their services that are free, and the breadth and depth of content is pretty impressive. If you want some premium features like turn by turn directions on your phone and mobile concierge, then you can upgrade easily.

It overcomes the problems I have with trying to "surf" the net for news and provides great editorial in a simple and easy to read interface on a small screen.
