Though it won't have the pleasure of being
the first carrier on planet Earth to offer up the
BlackBerry Bold, Orange will be the first provider in the UK to do so. Reportedly, the handset will be available for purchase on August 16th, a few weeks earlier than T-Mobile's purported September launch. We're told that the unit will likely be free on contract, but buyers will be politely forced to sign an 18-month agreement and hand over £45 per month (for unlimited data?). Just a few more long, painful days to wait.

SuperSexyErik (^_^) @ Aug 14th 2008 3:28AM

my grandfather owned a model like this a few years ago.. i guess blackberry doesnt change anything.
Adam @ Aug 14th 2008 7:41AM
Ok, Ive been watching this Erik guy for a while. What sort of covert marketing gimmick is he part of?
Rich @ Aug 14th 2008 8:53AM
He's part of a secret Nokia team whose job is to spread the stereotype that all Apple fans are big-mouthed retards.
simon @ Aug 14th 2008 12:40PM
why fix it if it ain't broke.
BTW Erik, every time I consider purchasing an Aple product somebody like you comes along and makes me realize that I really don't want to be part of that crowd. Thanks!

*rolls her eyes* Yeah nothing new about WiFi or Music library on a BB or a 2mp camera or 1gig built in memory (even tho only 128meg is for apps *sigh*)
Surur @ Aug 14th 2008 4:47AM
Orange have no unlimited data plan. They are a joke, even worse than Canada in this, so the Blackberry is pretty appropriate for them.
Chris @ Aug 14th 2008 1:59PM
The blackberry bundle on Orange is currently £2.50/month and gives you unlimited emails AND browsing....
Non-blackberry customers can pay £7.50 for a similar unlimited plan...

SuperSexyErik, your grandfather couldn't of owned a model like this. This is a brand new BlackBerry, new components, new screen, new radio, new everything. Nice try, but no cigar.
SuperSexyErik (^_^) @ Aug 14th 2008 12:25PM
yes but read the post, same model.
Don't be a smart *ss

By 'T-Mobile's purported September launch', does Darren mean T-Mobile UK or USA?
Harley @ Aug 14th 2008 10:24AM

StevenGlansburg @ Aug 14th 2008 10:55AM
blackberry's are for executive wannabe's and tools overall . They serve as a symbol of toolness.

Where the hell is the info for the AT&T release??
=[
Stacie @ Aug 17th 2008 9:02AM
apparently when hell freezes over... That's why I gave up waiting & went with the iPhone 3G last week since my Pearl was in its death throes :-/ It was a sad departure from BB but I do love my 3G
DeanZ @ Aug 14th 2008 2:24PM
This might sound desperate but I've been waiting since Feb. to get the new Blackberry. I got approval from my company and have been sitting on it for 6 months now. I'm getting quite tired of this and am actually considering getting an iPhone if the Bold doesn't comes out soon. I'm okay with waiting another month if we could at least get a date from AT&T. I simply cannot wait in the dark any longer as my current phone is falling apart.
mm5610 @ Aug 14th 2008 7:21PM
I'm with you...been waiting for months and getting sick of it. I was told today at our local AT&T store that it could be october. If thats the case I'm not waiting, I'll move on. Rimm needs to get it together.
Bryan S. @ Aug 14th 2008 8:31PM
AT&T knows better than to spill the details on an attractive, well known name-brand smartphone while the iPhone is still raking in the revenue.
Stacie @ Aug 17th 2008 9:02AM
*nods* I'm with you.. my current BB couldn't hold out any longer.. constant SOS mode & a dying scroll ball made me give in to the iPhone 3G frenzy last week. Sad to do away with my BB but I do have to admit I love my new phone. *shrug* I heard some businesses are switching to iPhones cause of the delay... BB could lose a big part of their market with this.
