That's for an unlock version. What that means to you iTards is that you can take that phone to any GSM carrier and not be held prisoner to long contracts.
And yes, it's expensive for Americans because our dollar can't buy sh*t anymore. Or pay $200, but you get what you pay for (cracks in the case, weak GPS and sluggish 3G and that's just this weeks news).
