Telus offers up Student Plan for heavy texters / surfers, light talkers
Telus clearly knows what's up. College kids aren't much on talking this day and age, but they sure love to text and surf. A pair of Student Plans (good 'til September 30th) have just emerged, one for phones ($35 per month) and the other for smartphones ($50 per month). Both rate plans offer up just 200 minutes of talk time but include nationwide unlimited talk, text, picture and video messaging with your Fave 10, unlimited nights and weekends starting at 6:00PM and unlimited web browsing. If you're hemming and hawing, maybe the $50 GAP gift card you get when purchasing the $35 plan with an LG KEYBO will be the deciding factor. No? Okay.

i wish more companies would offer a low-minute, unlimited data plan. Talking is overrated.

I also heart meerkats, although I can't get used to new series of Meerkat Manor (Stockard Channing is ok, but I miss Sean Astin).
Bolu Oladini @ Aug 11th 2008 3:53PM
why doesn't at&t have this kind of plan???
Frun @ Aug 11th 2008 3:55PM
Isn't it obvious? AT&T hates meerkats
champ22 @ Aug 11th 2008 3:55PM
sweet ..... wished ATT would copy that

Pretty decent deal. Wish a few others went with something like this.
avenirex @ Aug 11th 2008 4:52PM
I'd love that smartphone plan for my iPhone, or any other from AT&T. Maybe one day.

I wanted to get the diamond but $50/month is too much for me.

I sure wish we had that here in "America" (The USA to be exact).
Mark @ Aug 16th 2008 2:58AM
To all the Americans out there, you don't know what you're asking for. Little tip about Canadian telecom: these companies are all far far worse than even the greediest companies in the U.S. like AT&T, and given the deceptive advertising practices that are rampant here, I know that the price is probably going to be double after hidden charges and taxes. I don't know what the catch is going to be exactly with this plan, but I know there will be one.
So before I get my hopes up, I'll wait for some other sucker to sign a contract for one of these plans, and then see what they really end up getting and paying for. I've not been with Telus personally, but I've heard bad stories about them just like Rogers, and Bell. And those are the only three companies you get to choose from here, each running on a different networking standard, so they don't even compete with each other much.
To all of my American comrades, be glad you live in the land of the free.

uhm, does anyone notice this isnt that great of a deal. you can only txt TEN people unlimited, otherwise you have to pay 15 extra bucks for the student bundle (which you should anyways considering u need it for voicemail)
Al @ Aug 11th 2008 8:23PM
Only if it was 15 people instead or 10 or unlimited text to anyone(even for 5 bucks extra a month) it be great and to be perfect it would have to be offered also in the states. .
NoAndThen @ Aug 12th 2008 1:47PM
That's exactly what I want when ordering a phone!
The ability to talk and txt unlimited with friends, with a side of free goods made in a third world country by slave children! Kick ass!
When you look at it like that, I'm surprised this isn't an American deal.

PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW!
Are incoming messages unlimited or do you have to pay for them?!
LET ME KNOW!
